Risky essay?

One of the essays I’m doing asks what characteristics of the University interest me the most. I talk a bit about certain characteristics, and then I blatantly state that the university knows enough about its great characteristics and go on from there.

I already finished the essay and submitted it, bad move? I’ve read some of the essays around here and they seem more like advertisements for the universities rather than statements about the applicants themselves.

You can’t do anything, if you submitted it already. The admissions officials could see the essay as a good understanding of your desire to attend the college or they could think you’re trying to flatter them too much.

Theres two possibilities here:

They like how you were unconventional and not the cookie cutter essay

They hate it because they think you dodged the question and never answered the prompt

and if you want to think positively

They see that you tried to be a little different and may still consider you based upon another essay(s)

Really depends on the committee
