ok, for my penn ED deferral reversal letter:

VOTES PLEASE:

do i go out on a limb, or do I play conservative? i can just send well-written essays about what she (my rep) told me to write about, or should i do some really crazy stuff (i have ideas…too embarrassing to say…no, not THAT)?

either way i’m gonna cover this stuff…its more a matter of HOW:

-she said there was a little confusion among them…she said they knew i was home schooled at some point, but it wasn’t really clear when, for how long, why, etc.
-she said to re-iterate Penn as my first choice
-any developments

ehhhh, it seems like you weren’t too far awy from getting in. I wouldn’t throw that away by pulling something risky that loses the AdCom. play it relatively safe is my advice.

Definitely conservative… don’t push the limits if the adcom told you what to do… do what she said and do it well and hope for the best… what would she think if she saw your app and after telling you exactly what to do, you didn’t do it??? Sounds too risky to me, but umm… either way, good luck!

i’m gonna do both versions anyway…i’ll have them both done by monday at the latest…anyone wanna read them both and tell me which way to go after they’ve seen the actual out-on-limb product?

I’d say conservative, but not too conservative so that it becomes dull. Do what she says, and present the essay in a way that it still shows your passion and fire for Penn. I’ll read the two versions too.
