It looks like that RIT has a full scale arts school, with all kinds of majors, even more than some arts school.

Just wondering why? How is its reputation in the Arts community, and how is the placement?

It has a great reputation in animation, ranked 9th in 2018 by animation career review. Have not studied its standing in other mediums.
Definitely great rep in animation, the other majors hard to tell and worth asking about enrollment numbers. When my oldest looked at it for illustration a few years back it had a very small program. That’s not necessarily a bad thing depending on a student’s preference, BUT worth checking out and making sure a major isn’t possibly being phased out.
They are also ranking very high in photography, and game design.
