RMCAD or SCAD?

I am currently changing my major from Computer Science to Graphic Design. I am looking into RMCAD or SCAD and I don’t know which will be a better fit for me. When I spoke to rep from RMCAD he said that the tuition is around 58k for the entire program but SCAD is 35k per year. It seems like a big difference and want to know is SCAD is better.

Does RMCAD have regional accreditation? http://www.chea.org/Directories/regional.asp

Is the RMCAD program a 4 year BFA, or is it only an Associates Degree?

What hard evidence can the career offices at both places give you for paid internship placement before graduation, and job placement after graduation?

Have you asked about these programs and any others in the visual arts majors’ forum? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/visual-arts-film-majors/

SCAD is ranked top 10 for most influential current schools (they have another ranking for “last 50 years” but SCAD is younger than that . . . ).

SCAD’s tuition IS around $35,000 but room and board are about another $14,000 or so. Then you add in books, art supplies, and personal expenses and you are well over $50K all-in for the cost of attendance.

Here are estimates provided to the National Center for Education Statistics and should include “all-in” costs:

Hi adamedrano,
Just wanted to provide a few facts about us as you go through your decision-making process for schools:

-RMCAD is a regionally-accredited institution—you can find out more about our various accrediting bodies here:

-Our Graphic Design program is one of the more popular undergraduate 4 year BFA programs of the nine that we offer. Our Graphic Design graduates are renowned by employers for having both the technical skills needed to thrive in the workplace, as well as the problem-solving mindset that truly makes a successful designer. -RMCAD is a community of creatives. We really emphasize the close-knit community—in both an on-ground and online setting—within the context of our classes and beyond. There’s a lot of cross-disciplinary study that comes with being surrounded by students of different creative fields, from Fashion Design to Animation. Being surrounded by this kind of environment is something our students love most, as they are constantly pushing their creative boundaries and industry knowledge.

Please let us know if we can provide any additional information on our school, and best of luck in your future studies!
