Road trip to check out schools for animation or costume design

My junior year son is interested in animation or costume design. I am planning a road trip to look at schools. I understand that some of the Florida state schools have good animation programs like Florida State, University of Central Florida and University of South Florida. Any comments or suggestions on these schools from the animation perspective?

I don’t think we have time to see all three schools. I’m trying to find a way to narrow the field. I’m not sure of his GPA and scores but he probably falls in the 3.0 -3.2 with a 26ish range for ACT. He had some good feedback on his portfolio at National Portfolio Day but it’s still a work in progress.

Any thoughts?

I’m not sure about Florida, but one place you may want to consider is FIT in NYC. And intern in theater (which is just blocks away from the school). FIT is one of the top fashion/ design schools. And it’s quite cheap, especially if he takes time to get his residency first. Maybe doing a gap year and working in a field related to costuming. https://www.fitnyc.edu/bursar/residency/

They also have animation
