Roald Dahl

fantastic mr fox :::} now that was a good book

Nobody’s said George’s Marvelous Medicine! The BFG is my personal fav. though

Another enthusiastic vote for The B.F.G.!!!

I LOVE ALMOST EVERY BOOK BY ROALD DAHL! I have them all! I initially got them at the library, and then I was ecstatic to see a whole row of them at Waldenbooks…I eventually bought them all…I love them so much…My favorites?..Hmmmm…“The B.F.G.”, “The Twits”, “Matilda”, “The Witches”…I really liked them all…One day, I just want to re-read them all…

Roald Dahl is awesome…sorry -was :(

I love Roald Dahl!!! I have this huge book called “The Roald Dahl Omnibus” that is full of many of Dahl’s short stories. Unlike all of the books that he is famous for having written, these short stories are aimed at adults. I HIGHLY suggest it to anyone who misses Dahl’s witty style of writing. The stories are HILARIOUS… you need to read “Lamb to the Slaughter”. I’ve had this book for several years now and I always keep rereading it. The subtitle of the book is “Perfect Bedtime Stories for Sleepless Nights” and they are just that. Barnes and Noble is selling it for around $10, I believe, which is a wonderful deal… it’s almost 700 pages of Dahl’s wit, prose, and humor. A must read for sure.

The Witches was the best, for sure! But they were all so good!

So who’s Dr. Suess :p

And I’ve heard of Enid Blyton but that’s about it :)

Isn’t “Lamb to the Slaughter” about that woman who kills her husband and fools the police?

yup. cool story :)

Reading the Best of Roald Dahl all over again  The Landlady is also really really good

Oh, I love The Landlady!!!

Dr. Suess was another creative genius. You missed out man!!

Enid Blyton was a classic too. I guess you’re forgiven… you DID have a childhood after all!!! :)

Yes, Dr. Seuss was a creative genuis.

“Young cat! If you keep
Your eyes open enough,
Oh, the stuff you will learn!
The most Wonderful stuff!”

Have you guys seen the movies made of some of the Roald Dahl books? They made one of “Matilda” (which was actually on late last night), “James and the Giant Peach”, “The Witches”, and they made an English cartoon of “The B.F.G.” that I found mixed in a bin of bad movies at the dollar store…

In terms of movies: I thought Matilda was OK. James and The Giant Peach, IMHO, really didn’t do justice to the book itself (ie the film sucked). Roald Dahl, like many great classics, just has to be read… there’s no other way to experience it.

Such good books.

Yes, that’s true…But I noticed that for books that I read after I saw the movies (“Matilda”, “James and the Giant Peach”, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”, which I forgot to mention above, and “The Witches”), I saw them as being different from the books, as they are…A lot is chopped out or changed from the books, so I really just saw them as different and looked at how they were different…

Matilda and The Witches werent too bad but the rest were terrible

Yeah, Matilda wasn’t too bad… but I think that you can’t really completely appreciate Dahl’s literary genious unless you read his books. He really has his own writing style that you can’t appreciate in the movies.

OMG Roald Dahl is my absolute favorite author ever.

My favorite book of his is definitely The BFG. It is a complete work of genius and I have read it more times than I can count as well as all of his other books (I own almost all of them)

Roald Dahl has been my favorite since 2nd grade. He is the absolute best author ever!!!
