There have been several amazing graduation speeches making the rounds on social media of late. I’m sure many of you have seen them. This one however targets the arts so it probably won’t end up making the rounds on social media but I thought it had some wonderful nuggets of advice and wisdom that this forum would appreciate. Worth a listen no matter what school you attend or are interested in.
Regarding “making the rounds on social media” …
I saw/watched this earlier today and loved it. I pulled it up for D when she got home from work today and she was like, “oh, De Niro at Tisch? yeah, i already watched it”
I am the world’s biggest fan of the “do what you love & follow your passion” philosophy … loved this!
It’s funny about social media- I have seen this speech “Shared” on mine at least a dozen times in the last few days…But then again a lot of my friends are theater people
I honestly didn’t think it would be shared as it is for a specific audience. But of course we are the audience and chances are so are many of our contacts so I guess no surprise it turned up after all. Ed Helm’s UVA speech going everywhere I get. One, it was brilliantly delivered. Love the Nard Dog. Two, it was not targeted to a specific audience. This one I didn’t think would catch on because it wasn’t necessarily a brilliant delivery, (though beyond fine for sure) but the messages were solid. Just wanted to be sure it wasn’t missed but I needn’t have bothered. I really want a “Next” t-shirt.
@halflokum when you make them, let me know! Was lucky enough to be there for the speech as my eldest graduated that day. I was skeptical when I heard he was he speaker as celeb speakers can just glide on, well, being famous. But he killed it–it was funny and moving!
