Robert Morris University

Anyone know about Robert Morris University and how to get there from the airport in Pittsburgh? Thanks.

Typically, college websites have a “directions” tab that gives directions to out of town visitors. Here is theirs: <a href=“Get to Know RMU | Robert Morris University”>Get to Know RMU | Robert Morris University;

Thanks Pizzagirl. However, I want to know if there is a bus from the airport in Pittsburgh to Robert Morris University. I do not want to buy my son a car. Whichever school he ends up at, he needs to be able to get from the airport or Amtrak by himself with a bus and not a car. The web site you provided only gives car directions.

Have you called the school and asked them what public transportation is available from either the Pittsburgh airport or the Pittsburgh Amtrak station? That would be the first thing I would do, if google were unsatisfactory.

For as close to the airport as RMU is, there is no direct public transit available. PAT Transit would route you through three different busses to get to the campus from the airport - according to their website link, it would take about 1.5 hours! Here’s the link to their website:

The best bet would probably be the “SuperShuttle” van service. I think it would be about $12 each way, but would require reservations. Here is the link for the van service:

I wonder if RMU has some type of van service - they’re only about 6 miles away from the airport.

Students at PITT have free access to city buses with their ID cards. This includes going to the airport. I would call the school and see if they have a transportation fee and what it includes.

The Pitt (and CMU) free transit program is great for students. The other great thing about those two schools is that Oakland is a major hub for bus routes so for the most part, students can get to and from Oakland to anywhere in the county on a single bus route. (By the way, the airport express bus only stops in downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland. Yes, Oakland-based students have a very easy route to and from the airport.)

Check out the “Student Life” section of their website.

It looks like the school runs shuttles to the airport and Amtrak station during holiday breaks. The Spring break schedule is still listed. I’m sure if you call or email they will let you know during which breaks the service is offered.

RMU is located very close to the airport. You need to ask the college about the best transportation options to get there from the airport, but even cab fare is not going to be that expensive.

Did you see my PM?
