Sen. John McCain may be “proud” of the Paris Hilton/Britney Spears ad released this week, but his feisty 96-year-old mother apparently disagrees.</p>

<p>The Huffington Post obtained some audio of an exchange after the event where Mrs. McCain is asked about the Paris Hilton ad. </p>

<p>“Oh, well, I didn’t see it – I think it’s kinda stupid,” she says. “I’m just too old-hat for it. In fact, the other two, I didn’t even know who they were. I knew who Paris Hilton was, but then there were other two young girls…” (Someone informed Mrs. McCain that there were only two women in the ad, and that the other was Britney Spears.)

<p>You just gotta love us parents. I am sure a combination of a good use for duck tape and Mom and Dads mouths crosses my kids minds occasionally. I don’t think they are expecting to need that duck tape when they are in their 70s though! Maybe for their kids mouths.</p>

<p>I think Mrs. McCain is feisty and since she’s not running for office, she can still use straight-talk with the reporters. McCain had to stop telling the truth in order to be the nominee. Sad.</p>

The John McCain campaign may want to rethink its strategy of attacking Barack Obama by comparing him Paris Hilton, her family has kicked a lot of money to his campaign.</p>

<p>Paris’s parents have donated a combined $6,900 to the McCain campaign. The celebutaunt’s father Rick gave McCain $4,600 in March, and her mother Kathleen spent her own $2,300 in April.</p>

<p>The family patriarch William Barron Hilton, the co-chairman of the Hilton hotel chain and celebrity’s grandfather, has made five separate donations to McCain, totaling $15,100. The elder Hilton is a highly active GOP donor for several campaigns and committees, having donated to Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani as well as the National Republican Senatorial Committee to the tune of $15,000.</p>

<p>Paris has not donated to a candidate.</p>

<p>Unlike the Hilton’s, the McCain camp doesn’t have to worry about offending the family of Britney Spears. Neither the pop star nor her family have made any campaign contributions.

<p>As for Obama saying he’s not like any of the presidents on the dollar bills, the McCain campaign ran an ad last June featuring a very youthful Obama on a $100 bill.

If it’s so awful to pull Paris Hilton into politics, as John McCain recently did in a commercial, then Barack Obama shouldn’t have dragged her into a Senate debate two years ago, when he attacked the repeal of the death tax:</p>

<p>We will now wait for liberals to explain the political etiquette of Paris Hilton references: Okay when Obama uses them to condemn tax cuts, but not okay when anybody else uses them to criticize Obama.
