I applied for the Robertson’s Scholarship earlier this year and I was wondering if any current Robertson Scholars or semifinalists in the past years can provide some insight regarding the credentials of most of the scholars.

Is see that one of the current Duke Robertson seniors is listed as having a double major in Visual and Media Studies and in Geography. I didn’t think Duke had a Geography major, and I thought Program II didn’t let you do a second major. Do you know anything about this?
@renaissancedad lots of students do double majors. It’s not that uncommon. Program 2 is designed for those who essentially want to design their own major. It was originally for interdisciplinary studies but has gained a reputation for a wide range of interests.
I’m not sure how it is possible to do a double major and program 2. I thought it was one or the other.
^ I understand that double majors are common. That wasn’t my question. What I don’t understand is how you can do a double major where one of the majors is in something that doesn’t exist (Geography). Program II is the only way at Duke I know of to create a self-designed program, but it doesn’t allow a second major - Program II is supposedly an entirely self-designed curriculum, and not just a major. So I don’t know how anyone can do a double major in Visual & Media Studies (that part’s easy) and in Geography (that’s the hard part). Just curious.
That indeed is a good question. Not sure of what the answer is.
^ I googled the student in question, and her LinkedIn account notes that she is doing a major in Visual & Media Studies at Duke and a major in Geography at UNC. So that answers the “how can she be majoring in geography?” question, but brings up another: I didn’t realize that Robertson Scholars could actually combine majors across the Duke and UNC. That’s pretty cool.

Do they notify everyone or just those who got in?
They are supposed to email today, but if you look at older Robertson threads, you’ll see its not unusual to have them sent a little later than anticipated.
