robitussin

Should we drink water right after drinking some robitussin for a cough? I feel that if I drink water, it will wash the medicine down to my stomach which would do no good. If I don’t drink water (I just tried it right now), some medicine will be in my throat (I assume) which would be more effective. Also, I feel this cooling sensation in my throat too. So is it a good idea to not drink water after taking this medicine? Has anyone tried it and felt better faster?

Cough syrup is more effective when a little bit stays in the throat because of the vapors and things of that nature.

Overdosing is a unique experience but I wouldn’t recommend doing so because it’s not as cool as it seems.

I always drink water after so it washes down the taste. If you take a pill it doesn’t coat your throat, so should liquid be any different? Have you thought about maybe getting a cough drop after?

I just had a sore throat a few days ago and Mucinex DM works really well.

You realize that the medicine is supposed to go down to your stomach, where it makes its way into your bloodstream through the intestines and stomach and then works on your nerves and muscles to reduce your cough? The stuff doesn’t stick to your throat and work from there.

Drinking water with it will not have any effect on the medication or its actions.
