We have a Miele roomba. Finally we cleared enough crud off the floor after moving (well, I should say we shoved into the library for now). Let the roomba out last week, and it did great. No more cat hair bunnies flying around. Let it out today and went shopping. When we came back, it was hopelessly stuck on the top of Bona mop Mr. B used to prop up the TV antenna. :)) Freed it and let it finish its thing. Robots still need human touch for now.
I’m surprised at all the comments about the robovacs not taking the place of a regular vacuum. I’m not being argumentative, I just wonder what your experiences and observations are. I have not used a Roomba, recently bought a Eufy 11c.
My Eufy is only a month old. I love, run it every day and am shocked at the “stuff” it picks up from an apparently clean floor. We have hardwood and tile - the dust it finds stuns me. I did run it once on the one large Oriental I have and decided not to do that again. Of course the tassels need to be protected, but I thought the machine picked up too much lint and was probably damaging the carpet fibers.
We rarely ever need to use more than our Roomba several times/week.
Our dog picks up the crumbs and such.
That’s a sniglet: Barkuuming
Our golden retriever also does that, though she sheds more than she picks up the kibbles and bits.
Yikes! @HImom, I should have said “I run the Eufy every day in different rooms!” This way, the whole house is covered in a week or so. I do find that certain rooms gather “stuff” more quickly - the bedroom can use a couple times a week for under the bed dust bunnies and the lower lever - laundry and family room seems to be a dust magnet. The furnace with fan has been running frequently since it’s been so cold. It will be interesting to see if the dust accumulates so much when the temp. is more moderate.
I let the Miele out once a week. It vacuums the entire ground floor that has hardwood (about 1200 sft) on one charge and then goes back to its base.
We have an earlier model Roomba and it does a very decent job of keeping the floors relatively clean. When we have company over, we use a regular vacuum. But the noise really bothers me so my husband runs it when I’m out of the house.
Interesting–I wonder if the newer ones are quieter? I was quite worried about the noise but our is super decently
quiet.
We like starting it when we are about to leave the house and come home to clean floors. It isn’t bad to have them running when we are home either, as long as no one is napping.
We have had a Roomba for about 8? years model 780. We are happy with it and it still works great. Yes it eats charging cables, so we never leave them on the floor. It sometimes gets stuck under the piano pedals so I keep a brick under them. Our previous dog had longer hair and that did require brush cleaning. Our current dog has shorter hair and it’s not been an issue. I am nice to our Roomba and replace brushes and filters occasionally and it rewards me by continuing to work.
I love my roomba. Caveat: we only have hard wood floors. Bonus: My dog uses it to entertain himself. He can turn it on and use it as a toy.Runs around it barking. It is excellent if you hate housework. It is also great for picking up dust you can’t even see. Have had it for about 4 years. Would buy it again.
^so cute.
I love my roomba!
That said he got stuck under the couch today.
I really really want one that can be programed and I can speak to it. “roomba, clean the study”. I did
trap him and locked him in.
I need to stop thinking I need to turn the lights on for it!
Does anyone have a pet name for your roomba? My Miele roomba is called Scout. That is the model name, and we kept it.
:)) it is “he” and you just reminded me to tell Alexa to find him.
Oh! somehow he is home–maybe low on batteries?
Once they make him cute and let me voice command him I will never be lonely again =))
We have Rosie (Jetson’s housekeeping robot) and another Rosie (yes, 2 Roombas). We love having them!
Relieved to read the above posts! I thought I was crazy and DH was sure I was crazy when I began referring to my Eufy by name! Live the dog story, DH also roared with laughter. Thanks for sharing.
I have the roomba as well. Suction and cleaning wise, it’s good. I have a dog and it sheds too much hair. It’s terrible. But the Roomba can catch up with the fur. Batteries will need to improve tho.
