Which robotic vaccum cleaner do you recommend? I’m torn between the roomba 980 and the samsung 9350 turbo.
I’m very interested in the one that has the highest suction. They both cost about the same and I also would like one that works with my oriental rugs on my tile floor. Thanks!
I wasn’t sure how a robovac would work in our home, so I just purchased a Eufy 11 at a fraction of the cost of some of the others. (I did check reviews before purchasing, they were excellent.) Eufy is doing an incredible job on our hardwood and tile floors, suction is amazing. We do not have carpeting, but I do have a nice, large Oriental. Eufy seemed to clean that very well, perhaps too well. I am concerned that it is picking up lots of “fuzz” and wonder if it is stripping the yarns. I also didn’t want to risk the tassels, so tucked all those under the rug before running the machine. The Eufy had no problem transitioning from hardwood to rug, even traversing the bump for the tucked under tassels.
I set the machine behind our furnace yesterday, an area not accessible for a regular vacuum. Did a great job!
We had a Roomba several years ago. It worked great. Only one issue: dog that sheds a lot was too much for it. I give Roomba a lot of credit because they replaced various modules (a number of times for some of them) over a couple years to get it working again. But at some point, they said that was all they could do. Didn’t blame them at all.
We now own the Roomba 690. Amazon $324.00
It seems quite great so far. Snags on the long drops and messes with
charging wires for phone hanging on the ground.
So far very pleased.
We did a lot of research as I wanted the 890 but the price tag was not
good enough. WE have been controlling it with Alexa.
We had the most expensive Roomba but prefer the cheaper models. We got S to take our expensive one and got another cheaper one from Costco. Issue resolved.
I had a first-generation Roomba, probably 20 years ago (wow, can’t believe it was that long ago) - didn’t work great and emptying the tiny collection tray was a pain and the cat hair was annoying to clean off the brushes but I assume those issues have all been resolved. They still haven’t figured out a robot to run around and pick all the crap up off the floor so you can run the dang thing. THAT’s what I need.
I would love to have one of these things. My dog seems to do nothing all day but shed fur! But our home is a split level, so I’d need three of them. Can’t justify it.
I stopped by a vacuum shop that sells all kinds of vacuums and repairs them as well. I asked for his advice on the roombas. He said they do not clean like a normal vacuum does and does not recommend them. He also said that if it breaks he cannot fix them either. They have to be sent back to the manufacturer. However he said if you are going to buy one buy the one with the best suction (which happens to be the most expensive). He said they are really expensive but it has the best suction and even then it’s still not as powerful as a normal vaccum.
So my husband thinks I’m just buying a toy and wasting my money.
My son has one (the cheap riomba) and he says it picks up dog hair and they absolutely love it and they say it’s a huge help. They run it daily and just dump the bin out.
My conclusion is i think it probably helps with cleaning the floor but it isn’t perfect.
I haven’t bought it yet but I feel like it will help with my cleaning chores. I’ve had cleaning help but they seem to always quit.
We had a roomba. And three women with long hair. It took longer to take the brushes apart and cut off the large hair entanglements and re-assemble the thing than it would have taken to vacuum. They may handle pet hair well, but hair longer than that, not so much. It only takes a couple of long hairs to completely wind around the end of the brush and interfere with it’s spinning.
I think it is a mistake to think it takes the place of a regular vacuum.
We see it as something to use in between vacuuming not to replace it.
It is just nice to have the crumbs and such swept up inbetween.
Agree that it doesn’t take the place of a normal vacuum… but it does make the floor look clean enough to be presentable without you investing any time… once you can get over the urge to sit there and watch it go!
We have hardwood floors and it is great as long as you run it several times/week and pick up charging cords and Kleenex before running it. It keeps the dust and debris off the floors as well as going under the beds and sofa and furniture.
