My son’s robotics team needs a quick, easy and profitable fundraiser. I’ve been involved and have run quite a few different fundraiser over the years but I thought I would tap into the collective experience of this group.

Here are the caveats - NO candy or foodstuff’s where the first ingredient is sugar. Must be done by the end of the year. About 20 kids on the team.

I’ve suggested a fruit fundraiser (thanks for the link on another thread) and Barnes and Noble, hoagie and pizza kits. Anything else?

How much do they need to raise?

Christmas present wrapping is a popular local fund raiser. How about leaf raking for donations?

Good question about the goal amount. The teacher that is in charge is not a real good communicator with the parents so I get most of my info through my son, so I don’t know the exact amount and it also depends on how much the school district gives them. Ballpark is a few thousand dollars. I think it cost $10,000. to just enter an event but they get money from the school district and a few local businesses.

That’s a lot of money to raise in the next six-seven weeks. The holidays also see an upswing in fundraisers which will compete for $.

Any fundraiser where they sell stuff will only yield a fraction of the value - so I think you’d do better with fundraisers where people pay the kids to do something. (As a donation not a fee.)

How old are the kids? This works best for high school kids but I think middle school kids with adult supervision and participation can do this.

What about a post-Christmas tree collection and disposal?

This is a HS group, mostly boys. I like the Christmas tree idea. Most people hate just throwing the tree out in the trash but it’s a mess to take a shedding tree to the recycling place.

Yes - some of our local scouts have done this. They distribute fliers pre-Christmas and provide dates when they will come by and pick up the trees. Then all it takes is their labor and some pick-up trucks.
