My kid got waitlisted for CS yesterday with an invitation to apply for other programs. But no info on the 2nd and 3rd choice majors? Does that mean the application was not passed on to those other departments after the waitlist?
My D is still waiting too. CS as first choiceā¦
received regular decision acceptance on 3/8. Slated on second choice of SW engineering. Funny thing is that they never said anything about my son was place on his second choice (first was CS). Is that common practice? Thought was a little strange.
Very interesting. The same happened to my son, but they did not mention the number of spots or applicants.
let me take back on this post as I cannot delete. I found the information that they gave an offer for his second choice in the letter.
How likely is it that your student will attend? My child was accepted but we havenāt visited yet.
Edited to ask: Will inquire with the school but is it very difficult to change majors? Or is the major youāre admitted for the only choice?
Are you still waiting for a decision too?
Yes, still waiting.
I checked several times today, nothingā¦
Same here.
Good luck
My son got an acceptance to the BFA 3D Digital Design on March 2. We havenāt visited campus, so weāre trying to see if we can attend the Open House on either Apr 6 or Apr 13. Good luck!
My son just got accepted to Biotechnology after he decided to withdrew from invited interview of PA program. Also received merit of 25500 per year. I did not see the result of performance art scholarship. Anyone got it already?
Just got accelerated scholar letter for mechanical engineering technology
Im very confused about my whole RIT experience. I get $25,000 a year (the max merit scholarship afaik) and accelerated BS/MS program. BUT I get waitlisted for my first choice major? I dont mean to sound cocky and I know MechE is competitive but they clearly want me and all the sugarcoating is unlikely to make me come assuming I dont get first choice. At least for me (and I assume others) a first choice major would make me want to come more than a bigger scholarship and this accelerated program but with second choice major. My friend also feels this after getting a large scholarship and accelerated BS/MS too.
rant over, anyone else in the same boat?
S24 was accepted into his 2nd choice, Computing Exploration, with a Presidential scholarship. He also received a pair of socks and a paper pop-up tiger in the welcome packet. The paper tiger is really cute!
Yes! My son is wearing his socks today and has his tiger on his desk.
My son also got accelerated scholar offer. Is it just a combined program or it actually shorten the total years of BS/MS?
From my quick research after also receiving it it seems like it would be closer to 5 years for a masters instead of 6
It also mentioned about guaranteed 40% scholarship on graduate level. Any one has more information on this part?
S24 applied RD and found out today he was accepted. Great! However, he was not accepted for his intended major of illustration. The letter explained that he should connect with his admissions counselor to select basically any other major AND selecting another major. They were clear to point out that attending RIT by selecting another major would not allow him to transfer into his desired illustration major down the road either.
While S has been somewhat tight lipped about any favorite or top choice school I know RIT ranked high with him because he is a student athlete and the potential to get involved in club/intramurals along with having an art program at the school was really attractive. Not getting his major heās now eliminated going there.
