Rocky Beginning in Summer Class

So I registered for an online class at a completely different community college than I normally attend.

Since I’m new, I don’t have a login to use to get into the class just yet. I have to wait for IT to make one for me. Since they’re closed on Friday, it could very well be into next week before I get a login. I have attempted to contact IT numerous times today and they never answered their phone.

I have e-mailed the instructor about this and they seem to be somewhat understanding, but the instructor claims that this is a long time to wait since I’ll miss “quite a bit”. I seem to have backed myself into a corner. I apparently need the book package sold in the bookstore to begin doing any work, but since the bookstore is closed on Friday, well… Not much I can do until Monday!

I’m starting to worry that I may need to drop this class because of how far behind I’m going to get. It IS before the census date, but according to the cashier’s office, I’ll owe some money since it’s passed the first day (30%). If I don’t pay that, I could be turned over to a collections agency later on, from what I understand.

If it comes down to it and I need to drop before Census Day, how would I be able to convince the cashier’s office to forgive (or reduce) the balance I would owe because I could not complete the course due to not having a login for several days?
