I have a really sad highschool experience. Freshman year I took all honors but of course I messed up and had not developed very good study habits. As a result I performed terribly. Unfortunately the next year I did not do too well. My junior year I moved from Illinois to North Carolina because my dad got a job offer he could not pass up. As a result I had to move and it made my situation even tougher. My sophomore year I found myself being butthurt and performed bad. My junior year I had a new school and although it was tough I was able to do a lot better. I took all APs and all Bs and B+s. This was a huge accomplishment for me but unfortunately I had performed so bad the other years my GPA has suffered. My GPA overall for weighted is a 3.19. I am scared because my two passions of Computer Science and Premed are hard to get into at most schools. I was wondering if I should apply for an easier major and transfer? The schools I want to try and go to are UIUC, UW Madison, UMass Amherst, and UNC chapel hill. I have taken the new SAT in addition and received a 1300.
As a B+ student, you should broaden your search to include schools other than those you listed.
Good news is that for computer science and premed it doesn’t matter a lot which college you go to.
Agree with the above poster. Broaden your list.
Look for schools that are lower in the selectivity rankings. That GPA is, at most of the more selective and highly selective schools, going to almost certainly put you out of the running.
