I wish they would stay little for a longer time. My grandbaby is only 12 months (sounds younger than one year, according to my DIL!) and I can barely remember what it feels like to hold a tiny baby. Ren is so precious. Makes my heart melt to see his little pictures. And you look great, too, romani.
He is so adorable! I love the pic of him resting his face on his fist - and the one where he’s doing a power punch, lol!
Those little legs!
Don’t forget to post a picture of him in that newborn onesie when he’s about to outgrow it!
The fist picture is actually his cousin who is now 3. My MIL claimed she couldn’t see any of mr r’s side in him but I think a side by side with his cousin proves otherwise. (He does look quite a bit like my father and paternal half sister though.)
And those ginger genes poking through definitely didn’t come from my side. (Ironically… since he inherited my Irish last name.)
For anyone worrying, we really do practice safe sleep practices. The stuffed animals are only there for pictures and while he’s awake. The very rare time both Mr and I are sleeping, he’s in his pack n play with no blankets or anything else. He just has a hard time sleeping in his pack n play right now - but it’s getting better! I can’t wait until he’s old enough to sleep train lol.
Ren is just such a cutie! Love you sharing with all of us. Glad he’s a music lover too!
What a sweet little face! Romani-how are you feeling? Have you had to adjust your meds post birth?
Bub is 3 weeks today. At his check-up appointment this morning he measured 20.5" (up 1" since birth), 7 lb 15 oz (1 lb 4 oz! above birth weight). He appears to be perfectly healthy
@my-3-sons I’m doing pretty well, surprisingly. No signs of a postpartum flare-up yet - for either the autoimmune diseases or my mental health issues. I’m finally back on things like mobic and flexeril which has helped my pain significantly. So far, no other medication changes. It looks like knock on wood I’ll even be able to stay off my old heart meds since my heart rate has been less tachy.
Wow what wonderful news! You hit the jackpot with that adorable little guy, happy and healthy. You made a good call to try for a pregnancy with great insurance rather than wait for post grad employment.
Goodness, cute cute cute! Glad things are going well Romani. Hope you’re all sleeping well. Isn’t it the greatest?!?!
It’s still weird. Every other day it hits me that I have a kid and then I wonder “who let me have a child?! Cereal is still one of my main food groups!”
But because of the pandemic, Mr is voluntarily off work so we’ve been able to take shifts and both get plenty of sleep. (Relatively speaking.) Honestly, I’m getting way more rest and I feel infinitely better now than I did during most of my pregnancy. I’m quite enjoying it
That is so awesome!
Ha, I still tell our grown kids that I wonder when I will feel like an adult!
I could use a pm, as well, please. I have to go through a ridiculous process to get rid of the period (or dash, whatever it is.) Then it’s back next time, even if I leave the window open. Even if I type it directly into the address bar.
Oh, and don’t I remember a time when you weren’t certain about having kids? Or even getting married?
??
I’m loving your happiness. You got it, girl.
Just bookmark the pic site. That’s what I did.
LF, I’ll PM you.
Yes there was a long time that I wasn’t interested in marriage and ambivalent about kids. I’m still not all that interested in marriage and I’m not sure we’d be married if things like insurance and taxes didn’t depend on it. We’ve been together almost 10 years and the marriage certificate changed nothing.
I didn’t really want kids until I had a partner that was more kid-oriented than me. It wasn’t that I was opposed to having them, I just knew it wasn’t in my personality to be the primary caregiver. Luckily, Mr R has worked with kids his whole adult life and has taken on more than his half of the care of baby boy.
As I’ve been told this is more of a personal blog than appropriate for CC, I’d like to announce that I’m currently taking suggestions on how best to prepare my 3 week old for HYPS
(I’m obviously kidding…)
Hmm, I think it’s a little late to start planning for HYPS. ?
@MaineLonghorn shoot was I supposed to start reading him calculus books in the womb?? All he heard while he was in there was the news and rock/metal music. I guess I’ve doomed him.
Ah well. ?

It’s NOT too early to start the college savings and/or investment plan. In fact, for that, the earlier the better.
@calmom I do have a MET fund set up. It has only $50 in it (a gift) but it exists. I set it up while I was still in the hospital because I really had nothing else to do lol.
Ah huh… Who needs the Ivys when you have Michigan in your backyard… Seriously! ?
