Room transfer

You can only get a room transfer if you have a problem with a room mate, correct? What if you’re in a single and you want to transfer to a different dorm? Will they still consider my transfer?

The reason why I ask: I don’t like partying, and I don’t plan on drinking, ever. Everyone on my floor is the exact opposite, and just days in to the quarter I already have been woken up numerous times throughout the night by people coming back from parties. I have two classes at 7:30 AM and I do NOT want to go to my classes half-asleep because of loud floormates.

Oh and another quick question: what dorm would be preferrable for someone like me? Or am I screwed and probably should get an apartment? I heard Cuarto is “anti-social” and thus better for studying/quietness, though I don’t know for sure.

With all due respect: this is college. The majority of students are not on an early-to-bed-early-to-rise schedule. I know it sounds harsh, but I say just suck it up. I was in a single last year and I don’t drink or party. It was really loud. My solution? Earplugs. They work. Also, I think you’re probably exagerrating a bit…I’m sure that not every single person in your dorm is into partying. Get out and get to know people; don’t just give up after only a few days at school. Also, people settle down as the quarter gets going.

Yeah, keep in mind that school hasn’t even started yet. Everyone wants to just party their last days out.
I’m in Cuarto right now, and it was fairly quiet except for the people coming home from frat row.

But if it continues I’d imagine that you have a good enough reason to change.
But on the other hand there is like no space to go to.

Lol I knew I was going to get a “suck it up” post. Here’s the deal, I take 1 melatonin pill every night AND I wear earplugs; but I can still hear them. I’m a light sleeper. =(

But yeah I’ll just wait it out in my current dorm. You have a point that classes haven’t started yet, so hopefully things wind down as the weeks progress.

(And yes, I DO go outside and talk to people, Swifty. I’ll be sleeping as late as everyone else on the weekends, you can be sure of that. ;))

Sucks to be a lightsleeper.
