I have an idea for my roommate essay, but I’m not sure if it will reveal enough about me. I’m a really big dragon freak, something a lot of people know me for. So I want to write about some of my values and personality traits and connect them to my obsession with dragons. My idea is that I explain what exactly it is about dragons that fascinate me so much and then show how those characteristics play into my values, habits, and artistic expression (I read, write, and draw all about dragons). Some advice as to whether this topic could express enough about me to catch an admissions officer’s eye and/or how I could improve on the idea would be much appreciated. :)

EHm, lol, it seems like a good idea, but, as you said, you’d need to link the dragons and your personality together. It would definitely stand out because I can’t say I know many people who are fascinated by dragons, but if you pull it off (i.e. do what I said with linking) it will really jump out and be promising.

Yeah, my plan is to talk about how I seek knowledge and the most elegant, efficient application of it when solving problems, how I write/read/draw about dragons, and how I am strong in character for my friends and try to give them wise advice, and then connect all these ideas to how dragons are strong, wise, and majestic, which are the main characteristics of dragons that interest me.

wow thats exactly what i wrote my roommate essay on

Me too! Exact same thing! And I know someone else writing it about a dragon obsession too

…no jk.
you’re in the clear. Should be a sweet essay!

o.O

I wasn’t aware that dragons were still so popular. But that’s cool. My commonapp was based on my obsession with colors. The idea is unique, write it well! :]
