<p>My son just started at a culinary school and has a room mate in the dorms. He said the room mate has pot stashed in the room. The sohool has a very strict drinking and drug policy so my son is nervous. He doesn’t really know his room mate and would hate to be a plant. What would be good advice?</p>
<p>There was a thread on roommates and pot or liquor last year and the non drinker/smoker also got in trouble. I wish I knew how to advise you, but somewhere on CC there will be a couple of parents with sound advice. Good luck</p>
<p>he needs to ask the roomate to remove the pot…and to tell him that if he doesnt, that your son wont risk being kicked out or punished, and therefore would have no option but to report it to the RA. give him a time limit to remove it.</p>
<p>I agree with parent56, except that if the roommate isn’t willing to remove the pot, there might be another option to consider before taking the drastic step of reporting the marijuana to the RA – namely, requesting a room change. Ideally, the two roommates might both request a change, citing reasons that have nothing to do with the marijuana. There may be another mismatched pair at the school who would be happy to switch with them.</p>
