<p>Congrats to Rory McIlroy.</p>
<p>He is on his way to becoming one of the all time greats.</p>
<p>25 and 3 majors…</p>
<p>Hoping he turns out to be a better person than the last "all time great’ who was on a similar track. I give him credit for making the decision to break off his engagement recently when he decided he wasn’t ready. </p>
<p>He seems like a really nice person. I was very happy to see him win. Seems like the anti-tiger. </p>
<p>He certainly played some great golf. Someone pointed out after the final round that Fowler had shot all four rounds under 70, and didn’t win. I looked at the leaderboard and everyone else, including McIlroy had at least one round of 70 or higher. Winning these tournaments really requires a stunning level of play. </p>
<p>Woods looks like he is toast. </p>
<p>I would never count him out. He is just back and rusty. He will win more big ones before he is through, I would bet.</p>
<p>I didn’t like the way he dumped Caroline so have crossed Rory off my list. </p>
<p>She actually won her first tourney in like forever yesterday, too. </p>
<p>We don’t know what happens behind closed doors, so I wouldn’t judge what happened in their personal relationship.</p>
<p>What I know for sure is that Rory is a regular guy … reminds me of my own kids. I worked out next to him at my in laws’ club during Masters week, and he is friendly, unassuming … seems like a great kid. With A LOT of talent.</p>
<p>Emilybee, were he and Caroline married? If not, what was so bad about him dumping her? </p>
<p>Not married but the invitations had already been sent. It’s not like the had just met and decided to get married, either. They had been a couple for several years. </p>
<p>No one else has to dislike him - but for me it was cross off list worthy. </p>
<p>They were engaged, and he supposedly dumped her over the phone.</p>

<p>I guess you weren’t a big fan of Tiger Woods. He was married and has a mistress on the side for every day of the week and more. He was quite the player. I wonder what the new girl friend thinks of him. </p>
<p>Tiger? Meh. Amazing player back in the day. I wonder if being a child star had anything to do with his issues. </p>
<p>We really like Keegan Bradley - he’s a local boy!</p>
<p>The golf played at the Open was just amazing. It was a fun tournament to watch.</p>

<p>Somebody who caddied for Phil or played with him , I cant remember, said he was a really good guy.</p>
<p>Rory is involved with a junior golf program that my son is a member of. He is gracious, warm, patient and attentive. A very special young man.</p>

<p>It’s ok. I’m not offended that others like players I don’t. That is why there are apples and oranges. </p>
<p>I thought it was awesome that his father bet 200 pounds 10 years ago that he would win the British Open within 10 years… it paid off at 500-1. That’s 100,000 pounds ($171K). </p>
