yes i know this has nothing to do with college and all but from what ive seen, this website contains ALOT of smart, insightful people and id just thought i would as that question here rather than say answers.com so please, no ignorant comments about “why are you asking that on a college prep website” or “whats this have to do with college” and so forth

So, for those of you who have actually tried the program, does it ACTUALLY work?? I really want to be somewhat fluent in Spanish and Korean because high school spanish,at my school, is TRASH so i just quickly went through my 3 years and dropped out. Ive heard this program does and does not work from people on youtube, answers.com, etc. soo…i need CCs view on thiss

I am a Spanish teacher and I would definitely not recommend buying such a program as this. I have never used Rosetta Stone, though I have seen it demonstrated, but any computer program even with videos of real people that professes to teach you a foreign language is not nearly as good as live lessons. You need to be able to speak with people and interact in a real classroom with live people. Language is, after all, alive. Take a class in your local community center or community college. Rosetta Stone is pretty expensive, and I would recommend using that money in a real class instead. You could also potentially get some college or high school credit for doing it in a real way.

I have it and like it but unfortunately I have never used it consistently enough to learn more than very basic Spanish. You really need to commit to working with it every day. I’ve learned enough Spanish for very basic communication while traveling, but that’s about it. You would really need to have the time and self-discipline to use it consistently, especially if you have no one in real life to practice with.
