Schler’s name was removed Thursday from the Boston Marathon’s online list of entrants. Lieberman said that nothing about Schler’s story made sense. She had her bib and number on her leg, contrary to marathon guidelines, and covered by a shirt. She told Lieberman she had removed the timing strip from the bib in each of the last two years.

The course has seven spots where that strip records a time — the starting line, the finish and five spots within the course. Lieberman said she did not register a time at any spot.

This woman is a cheater and a thief! I feel very sorry for the true winner who was robbed of the joy of being the first to cross the finish line!

Inexcusable that they did not uncover last year’s fraud earlier. They have the timing strip, they have 7 points where the timing strip registers a time exactly to prevent this type of thing. If you don’t trip the timing equipment at all 7 points your time should not register - you are DQ - and the burden is on the runner to explain what happened or prove they were there.

ok, you removed the timing strip, so your time wasn’t recorded. If you want an official time, leave the strip on next year. sheesh! I thought marathon organizers learned their lesson after Rosie Ruiz. oh, also, I think this woman could and should be charged with a crime because her fraud if successful would have earned her a $1500 prize.

I’ll be running Boston on Monday. Glad she won’t be there.

Sadly, this happens frequently. A few years ago my friends and I busted a runner at the Las Vegas Half and Marathon. She certainly didn’t win, but she suddenly improved her marathon time by about 45 minutes, and some of our group absolutely did not see her after a certain point. There was a way to easily cut the course and leave out a couple of loops. I confronted her with it and she claimed that she hadn’t meant to cross the finish line, but she was bragging on facebook about her time. She got disqualified.

Cool, MOfWC.

Glad this woman is not running Boston! IMO, it is hard to come up with a way to cheat in Boston. So many folks, so much security, and so many cameras watching you! Did she have a plan to keep on cheating or did she think of an excuse to explain her suddenly poor performance after the race?

OffTheyGo, happy running! Enjoy. Boston is amazing.
