Is it possible to do ROTC and either a Division III or club sport?
What are the time requirements for ROTC?

Somewhere on the NROTC website I read that a person can do both but
is it really possible?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Loophole…My S is in NROTC at a large state U. The requirements for NROTC probably vary from school to school but basically it requires one extra class added to your academic courseload per semester, early morning physical training at least twice a week and one 2 hour lab weekly. There are random weekend things to do sometimes too but not every weekend. A lot of ROTC units have their own teams that compete in college intramurals. I’m sure you could do a club sport. Most NROTC units are located at larger state u’s. Don’t know if any division III schools have NROTC but you could find that on the NROTC website where it lists all the school by state. Some smaller schools may say they have a cross registration agreement for NROTC at a bigger U but this means that all the ROTC activities and classes will take place at the bigger univ. and time and distance could be a big factor.

Our unit encourages it; over 50% of the students in my school in my unit participate in Varsity athletics, and we are a D1 school. I myself am hoping to run track in addition to ROTC this year. It’s definitely possible, although a lot of it does depend on how willing your school and sports programs are to work together and be a little flexible.
