Hello! (:

A brief history of my high school years would be this:
-Health issues galore, but finished my freshman year with all 6.25 credits I attempted and final grades ranging from A-'s to C’s
-My sophomore year was a terrible year for me. Not only were there many family issues, including deaths, but I also missed the entire last month of the school year because of one of the worst cases of Mono my doctor had ever seen. I ended the year with grades ranging from B’s to D’s, but received all 6 credits I attempted.
-I switched to home schooling online my junior year. I needed/need very few credits to graduate and this allows me to speed the process up. I took four classes and ended the year with three A’s and a B and a 2.7 GPA.
-I am in my senior year now, having started this past May. I am taking five classes and can expect my GPA to be 3.0 or higher by the end of my school year.

I also took a year of Spanish, for credit, while still in junior high and also took a summer session of P.E. the summer before my freshman year and well in both.

Based on this information, are my chances of getting into college… in existence? I’ve had a rough few years for various reasons, but my grades have greatly improved over the course of last year and my current school year. However, I did not do fantastically on the ACTs (Plus Writing).

Any thoughts?

I am still looking for any comments and suggestions that anyone can give! (:

did you take the SATs? im not familiar with the OGTs (im not from Ohio). your ACTs are okay, not great. i think if in your essay you explained one or two of the things that happened while you were in high school, how it affected you, and what you learned from it, colleges would be more forgiving. once again, im not familiar with Ohio state schools, but i bet you could get into one.

mkh2012 - No, I did not take the SATs, and I have no plans whatsoever to do so. Thanks, I’ll make sure to do that for the essays that I can! (:

Yes, my OGT scores were very good, I believe accelerated for most of them, so they should help me with any Ohio schools I apply to.

Through Junior year no one had a high school record as bad as mine but I turned it around my Senior year and was accepted by a college in April of my Senior year on the basis of my first semester Senior year grades and decent SAT scores. Like me, you may get a stack of rejection letters but remember that you only need one acceptance letter to get into college and gain a fresh start.

Can you tell me more about this please?

Lemaitre1 - Yup! I am trying to keep an open mind, but still dread the “thin envelopes” coming in the mail. :(

Melting11 - More about what? (:

It might be better for you to attend a local community college and transfer.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I was accepted to Bowling Green for Business (applied for Individualized Business, but won’t be majoring in it if I attend, I don’t think). I found out a couple of days ago.

It’s not my number one choice, but it allows me to apply to a lot fewer schools! ^_^

I’ll be applying to Buffalo State College (The State University of New York College at Buffalo) for Interior Design or Business Administration in two weeks.

In three, I’ll be going to Eastern Michigan’s campus and applying while I am there. I’ll be applying for Entrepreneurship or Management.

I’ve been tossing the idea of a minor around for a while. So, my next job while I’m online here at CC is to find where to ask about that. XD
