Royal Baby Named

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

Nice nod to Diana. <3

Nice combination of all the names that were predicted to be used.

I like it! They can call her “Charlie” at home

Perfect! She is such a cutie.

Kate hardly looks like someone who just gave birth only hours before (in the video I’m watching at this moment of her and Prince William leaving the hospital). Wow.

Love Charlotte. It’s also very nice that they used Diana, too.

Glad they did not burden the baby with Diana as a first name. She gets to be her own person instead of another “Princess Diana” but also honors Diana.

The top prediction was Charlotte, and Olivia was also a popular candidate. I get why Elizabeth and Diana were obvious, but why Charlotte, and why Olivia?

I thought they should name her Buttercup.

I would have liked to have seen the Diana come before the Elizabeth, given the reported way the queen treated Diana. If thats all/mostly true (there are always 2 sides) the queen deserves 3rd billing.

Charlotte is the feminine of Charles, and is also a name that has appeared before in the royal family (the wife of George III, a child of George III and of George IV) and is Pippa’s middle name. No clue on Olivia.

Absolutely beautiful name!

I read that Elizabeth is also Catherine’s middle name, which would make sense that it would come first. Also, the Queen is still living, so William probably didn’t want to rock the boat by having Diana’s name first. Plus…well, she is the Queen! I love that they included Diana, as she was such an Icon (and still is) of mine. I hope it annoyed the hell out of Camilla. Charlotte is also Pippa’s middle name. I think they did a great job!

Nice name. Congrats to the proud parents (and older brother)!

conmama,
No doubt William didn’t want to rock the boat with the queen. I just think he should have!

Beautiful, and fitting name! Nice choice.

When it comes to Queen vs Diana, I am on Team Queen. I never understood why people were so obsessed with that vapid clothes horse.

Nice name. I think that Charlotte also is a bit of a nod to Carole Middleton, as well as Charles, of course.

Back in regency times, when King George III was deemed crazy, his son who became George IV had a daughter named Charlotte. She was to be queen but died in childbirth. After her death and some twists and turns was how Victoria became queen.

George and Charlotte, nice English names with a nod to past royal names.

I’ll volunteer to babysit Prince George if the Kate and William are too busy with the new baby.

Lots of baby Charlottes around these days. We have two in my extended family. And Chelsea Clinton’s baby is named Charlotte. It seems to be on the short list for many pregnant women, even ones who ultimately choose other names.

Funny, the only person I know right now named Charlotte was born in the U.K. about 20 years ago.
