Royal Baby Named

So back to the names… And darn my money was on Madysin or Ginnephur.

(See the other baby name thread :). )

Camilla was born stodgy. A bit of a shame.

Oh good grief, the only resemblance Harry has to James is that they’re both gingers. Harry bears a remarkable resemblance to Charles. Just look at their noses, they’re identical!

It’s pretty sad that the boys have to deal with all the rumors and whatnot swirling about the mother that they adored and lost at a young age.

Now that Princess Beatrice is 7th in line to the throne, she no longer needs the Queen’s permission to marry.

Well, I actually thought he was Hewitt’s, too for a long time. Really did look like him! But as he’s gotten older, i see he has many of Charles features, but does favor Diana’s sister quite a bit.

Well, I liked Diana. I am just a year older than she so when she came on the scene at 19, I was still in college. It seemed like such a romance to all of us back than, and we were just enthralled with her good looks and i think she really was a warm person. Yes, she was a clothes horse…but so am I. I would have worn all those pretty things, too. I don’t see what is wrong with that. They mostly were British designers, so you could say she was helping them out. I’m sure she thought she could change him…but she was a teenager…many older women thing they can change people. He got married…time to stop the Camilla affair. I think the way he flaunted her in front of his wife is pathetic and I’m sorry…I blame completely…and Camilla. Seeing her at all these events and now she’s a duchess justmakes my skin crawl. I hope the “Diana” in Charlotte’s name drives her crazy. Meow.

I think Harry looks like a red headed version of Diana’s brother.

We here in the Charlotte NC area are very pleased with the name!

The name is fine but I was hoping they might go with something a little less common than Charlotte. I liked that Fergie and Andrew went with Beatrice and Eugenie, very distinctive choices in an era when old lady names had not yet begun their revival.

And when they chose those names they were roundly criticized! Especially Beatrice.

I imagine there was a bit of controversy when Anne named Zara.

This is a rag sheet but it’s amusing http://www.celebdirtylaundry.com/2015/camilla-parker-bowles-prince-charles-furious-princess-charlotte-elizabeth-diana-name-revenge/

An interesting article explaining why Diana was chosen as the third name:

One of these days, I’ll read an article that isn’t riddled with typos… and it’ll be a glorious day.

(But really, good piece.)

In the link provided by @BunsenBurner there are several photos of Diana in her famous gowns. I actually thought her wedding gown was hideous, with those enormous puffy sleeves and her bangs, usually brushed to the side, hanging straight down on her forehead. But the rest of the gowns in that gallery really show the Diana as she so often looked: breathtakingly beautiful. I LOVED that Catherine Walker gown that has a white bodice and faux jacket and is pink from the waist down. Her height and slim figure was perfect for showcasing beautiful clothes.

I went to the Diana Exhibit in Louisville a few years ago. I am one that loved that dress…truly a princess dress. What I found is that in person, the dress didn’t have alot of adornment on it. That trains was incredible…so was the exhibit and the way they showed the dress. t here was a full life image of her displayed and somehow they worked the real train into the picture. I don’t know how to describe it, but it was cool.

I do agree about her bangs though…don’t know what was going on with them that day. It might have been the rainy weather? The gowns on display were very beautiful. I loved the home movies of when she was a girl, it just sort of stabs you in the heart.

If you look at other pictures from 1981, her wedding day hair seems the same as how she wore it at other times that year. Later on she developed a more sophisticated look, but this was just out of the school girl era. At the time, no one seemed to think her age to be an issue, but wow was she young to take on all she did. I thought the dress was perfect for her, it certainly inspired a decade of wedding dress styles.

I have a Princess Diana sapphire/diamond ring, though mine is MUCH smaller. DH gave it to me when we were dating. This was shortly after she began wearing hers, and it was such a much talked about ring.

ETA: I got my ring several years after Diana/Charles got engaged. It seemed like the same time frame, but their engagement came several years before I even met DH.

I have a Princess Diana engagement ring, too. Obviously, also much smaller. It was also a good 6-7 years later that I got mine.

She did inspire so many trends. Remember the off-white pantyhose with our dresses? Ruffled collared shirts. My senior college picture I’m in a peach ruffle collared shirt with a cameo on it…LOLOLOL!

About her wedding day hair. I agree she wore it the way she usually does, but it didn’t do right that day. It looked flat and awkward…that’s what we were discussing, not the style of it swept over her forehead.

I never watched her wedding, only in passing because I had school early, so I was pretty neutral about her. But after college I met somebody that was totally enamored by Diana and I thought that was a little bit unusual but judging from this thread, I guess not.
