RPI Class of 2024 Thread

@arynnp1 I’m over the 75th percentile and I have it from raiseme. I haven’t even got the financial aid information

I contacted AO. I won’t see my merit until I get my financial aid package.

Accepted from RD and received my financial aid information (with $10K Leadership Award) on March 19. Not enough merit for me to commit to RPI.

Still waiting on financial aid/ merit

Same

When would be the latest they can send you a FinancialAid and merit package? We check the portal twice a day, at least!

Nothing here on financial aid either. These kids have to make a decision soon and who would accept an acceptance offer without knowing how much this university will cost. Some colleges like RIT have extended their deadlines for accepting their admission offer. Maybe RPI will too.

I am wondering whether it is worthy to attend RPI with less than $20K merit for biology major. Should I seriously consider attending SUNY (Stony Brook or Binghamton) instead?

Has anyone here not received their Financial Aid package?

I just received an email from RPI and asked me to consider starting in Fall 2020 instead of Spring 2021 which I was originally admitted to. Has anyone received the same email?

How strong is RPI for undergrad robotics? Not just clubs, but actual instruction, hands on projects, etc? Is there a robotics ‘path’ at RPI for an engineering student that wants to focus his studies on robotics? Any thoughts would be helpful.

My son was accepted for the Fall Term in to the Mathematics BS Program.

We were not able to visit the physical campus before Covid-19. It sounds like you have a lot of experience with this campus. What is campus life like?

Are there a lot of collaborations between disciplines?

To see what campus life is like I suggest examining the student newspaper
https://poly.rpi.edu/

As far as collaboration the research page may have some descriptions of interdisciplinary research. This is how most departments collaborate. To see how the collaboration works between classes I would e-mail the Provost. I am not allowed to post the e-mail here, but going through the course catalog to try to identify cross listed courses would be time consuming. If you e-mail the Provost I suggest asking for specific examples.

As for everything else you need to be committed to both CLASS and ARCH before deciding to attend. These are RPI highlighted programs. If you read Reddit you will see mostly negative comments (positive would not be expected). I hope this helps.

Already declared the offer but emails are still coming. Wonder they have problem meeting the enrollment goal?
