RPI Early Action / Early Decision Fall 2024 Admissions

Since there doesn’t seem to be much activity here I thought I’d make a thread for all Fall 2024 admissions. Did anyone get an ED result they want to share? :eyes:

My S24 applied EA. The school has gone from being an “absolutely will not apply” based on reputation and comments from a few people we know to one of his top choices after investigating it himself.

I’m a little nervous about the EA application, though, because they say they won’t evaluate it until they have first quarter or trimester grades. S24 is doing all DE classes, though, so he can’t get any grades until the end of the semester. Admissions said to just send those when he has them, but I’m nervous about the timing and if it puts him at a disadvantage.

When is the end of the semester for your son? There is still a lot of time between now and the end of January for EA decisions, and I’m sure your son isn’t the only one waiting on DE grades. Good luck to you. My D24 is anxiously awaiting decisions too.

He has finals the week before Christmas. The last one is Dec 21. I just don’t know how long the professors have to get the grades in, so I’m not sure if he can make the “before the end of December” deadline the AO gave him.

(I’m also nervous because I feel like as an “average” qualified student he would do better if his application is evaluated before the committee has seen a thousand other students just like him…UMC, white, male, from MA, interested in engineering & business…I guess at least it isn’t CS! Although I feel like I’ve seen fewer people applying for CS this year than I saw last year.)

Congrats! My son is a second year student at RPI. He loves it!

I can see why that would be stressful.

My S24 is waiting on EA-mechanical engineering. Fingers crossed!

Computer Science + Math.

RPI sent email to my counselor 2 days ago asking for mid-term grades. Is this typical?

Yes. I believe it is a checklist item on the Portal. This is just one requirement for the RPI application.

thx

I hope your son is accepted and attends. My S23 is a Freshman, Mech E & Aero dual major. He loves it! RPI is a great school. It is very rigorous. RPI is clearly on the upswing. There is no political turmoil. Between hiring a new President (RPI alum who returned to lead RPI after 40 years at MIT), being the first university in the world to house a quantum computer, housing one of the most powerful supercomputers of any university in the world, and having an alum (Reid Wiseman) lead NASA’s Artemis II mission as Commander, it is difficult to see any trajectory other than up.

Thank you. My husband graduated from RPI in 98’ in Mech E and is really hoping that my son makes this choice. However, it is definitely my son’s decision. We will know January 27th if this is an option!

Also looks like they are amp-ing up their marketing. should help with the ranks. got the below yesterday from them…

This is Jonathan Wexler, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I am excited to announce that I will be hosting the brand-new RPI podcast “Crashing the Faculty Lounge,” which is available now!

Each episode will include conversations with distinguished RPI faculty members, giving you exclusive insight into the remarkable developments occurring on campus, innovative student research, and much more.

The first episode features highly esteemed RPI Professor and AI researcher, Dr. Jim Hendler, who discusses the current applications of AI on our campus and beyond. This is part one of a three-part series with Dr. Hendler, so you can expect to hear much more from our conversation soon.

I got accepted but there is no mention of scholarship. Do they give scholarship along with admission letter?
