My son received an email that his merit offer was in the portal - $33,500!! So excited as this is one of his top choices. Also received $1,500 early application award - but I think this is one time (not for 4 years) - can anyone confirm?

Stats for future applicants: 98UW, 1510 SAT, 9 APs (all 5/4), varsity/travel sports + leadership

My son also got his! $34,000 plus the $1,500 early application scholarship.

FWIW, stats: 3.93 UW GPA, 1500 SAT (750/750), 4 AP (3 jr year all 4s), 9 DE senior year. Works 25-30 hours a week, other average ECs (volunteer at church, youth group, game club).

Very excited that this (plus the institutional grant) makes RPI affordable. Also really like the (NYS mandated?) form that tells the details on costs and calculations so clearly.

Congratulations on the merit awards! I am hoping my son receives his letter soon. Yesterday, he received the “Congratulations on Your Acceptance to the School of Engineering” email and got excited.

He sent me a screen shot of the portal and I see it says “ The Office of Financial Aid is in the process of finalizing financial aid awards (including merit-based scholarships) for all admitted Early Action students. We plan to begin releasing these awards over the coming weeks.”.

Good luck to everyone!! :shamrock:

My guess is the $1500 is renewed each of 4 years. My son has the early award (current second year at RPI). His is renewed each year.

For those that have gotten merit awards, curious which School? Wondering if they are coming out by school - son is Engineering and hasn’t heard yet, just the same notes mentioned by others.

RPI is a top choice for him but certainly not at $82k.

My son got into Engineering, and got his package this week.

I think you could certainly still get merit aid. They said the packages would be rolling out over the next WEEKS, so I think they are still putting them together. Until you get the financial package and it doesn’t have merit aid in it, I would have hope you will get some. About 3/4 of attendees get some merit aid. (Of course I guess students who get aid are more likely to attend, and thus a lower percentage of admits might get aid. But you should at least get the “applied early” scholarship, right?)

My daughter got into Engineering and was notified of her merit award yesterday of $43,500. Out of the 11 schools she’s been accepted to so far, this is the most merit she has received. I wonder if RPI is hoping to enroll more females with these scholarship packages. It just might work. We will be taking a tour soon.
Her stats:
OOS
NMF
NHS
NEHS
Girl Scout, Gold Award
Rower
4.0 gpa
1520 SAT
7 APs, 2 Honors, 2 DE
Great essays

My daughter has similar stats and her award was similar. I really hope they attract more girls. That would be so awesome.

Does anyone still wait for financial packages? Didn’t hear anything yet

We’re still waiting for the official award letter. Maybe bc my kid is a medalist? We’re hoping to hear soon too & wondering if they are announcing merit to non-medalists first.

That could be - especially since most of the other awards are in the range of the medalist scholarship. Son got his award last week (AeroE - 35K - was not a medalist as our HS GC was unaware…)

Did anyone else get the survey e-mail yesterday feeling out the odds of attending? I thought that was a little odd to get so close to having been notified and not something my son had gotten from other EA schools - at least not that soon.
