RSI 2006 Introductions

I have the same problem, highskoolstudent. I emailed Maite but haven’t gotten a reply yet. I thought that maybe it was just my old decrepit adobe version, so I am trying to install the newer version. Any other suggestions?

Haha ZFrankel. You almost made me forget about APs next week.
Almost.

bought my plane ticket today. going to rsi seems more real now :D

I booked mine a couple days ago. We’re one step closer to rsi =p

btw has anyone recieved the rsi student handbook?

Last year, internationals were emailed the handbook sometime in late May. Domestics got the handbook mailed to them later - middle of June-ish.
So if you can’t wait, get an international attendee to forward it to you ;)…but it will probably be a few weeks before anyone recieves it.

wait, do we get anything else between the mailing of the invitation and the handbook?

What time are you arriving? My flight comes in at 10:40 (it’s a little early, but it was the cheapest).

What does the handbook contain?

I’m arriving at 11:50.
“The RSI Student Handbook gives important rules, guidelines, and other information for your stay
at MIT’s Simmons Dorm.” - from the letter that maite sent us with all the forms

Speaking of international, I have a question…I am a permanent resident of the United States, and RSI sounds really cool. Unfortunately, RSI has that citizen rule…do I have to apply as an international? Can I even do that?

You need to be a citizen to apply if you live in the United States.

So I can’t apply internationally either?

I don’t think so. My friends who had green cards couldn’t.

you should be able to apply internationally, ask maite.

Not true, there are tons of permanent residents who go to RSI every year. I’m pretty sure that as a permanent resident, you’re essentially applying as a domestic applicant jieyoon.

But vanilea is right, contact Maite (she’s very nice and helpful :)) if you have any questions about eligibility…since I could be wrong too :P.

oh hmm odd. Sorry about that then. I never realy looked into the permanent resident status thing(besides what my friend told me) since I wasn’t one.

Hmm…I did send an email to Maite that went like:
I am a student interested in the RSI program. However, while I was
looking through the site, it said that domestic applicants must be US
citizens. Will permanent residence count? I have lived in the United
States for over 11 years, and RSI looks like something I would really
like to apply to.

Thank you

And the response was:
Thanks for your interest. You must be a US citizen to apply to RSI in the
US. We are now closed for 2006.

Best of luck,

Maite

But anyway I hope you’re right about us being allowed to go. And thanks for being so helpful everybody.

looks like this prog weighs PSATs pretty high, one kid i kno got a 229, but on the real SATs got like a 2100-flat, he was so ****ed off, lol

i didn’t even care about those, cuz I’m gonna ace the real one’s anyways

I’ll be arriving at 3:36 pm :-/, but it was either that or 6:25 am. It’s okay, though, because I’m leaving at 5 pm on August 5th mwahahhaha :)
