Rsi 2013

Are you guys printing out the full application that’s online? Near the beginning it says " Please print and submit a copy of Parts I, II, and V with the rest of your application materials"

So I’ve been stalking this forum for the last few weeks and finally decided to take the plunge and make an account. Trying to finish my essays today. Any suggestions for #3? Or in general?

The application asks for course work through the end of the 2012-2013 school year, but I accidentally included two classes that I will be completing in June 2014. Will RSI care about that? If they do, how can I start a fresh application?

@nkrish yes you have to, otherwise they won’t consider your application. I submitted mine and then printed it. The screen that it comes to after you submit your application is much cleaner - there are no boxes around every answer, but that’s just my OCD

And to whoever asked this a while back in this forum, I don’t think you have to submit the 1-2 page resume online, just print it and include it in your application envelope.

Also to whoever asked this question, I’m using US postal to mail mine, though maybe FedEx is a better option, now that I think about it… US postal tends to lose my mail and from where I live, things appear weeks later than they should. Normal mail takes 3-4 days. Mine often takes 3-4 weeks, for some reason. Urghh don’t want to take the chances of them losing it!!!

@Gotgumption, better hurry! You need teacher recs, and since the application is due in like 10 days, if you’re going to apply, so if you haven’t already, get them! I just got mine yesterday after a month and a half of waiting. My teacher just dropped by my house and we talked in the middle of my garage. LOL. My teachers weren’t the most punctual. For 3, I just thought about my AP bio and chemistry classes and medicine today (I’m interested in more biology/medicine topics) and picked out some problems that interested me, or topics in my classes that I really liked learning about. Then I Googled them. That’s about it. Still working on 3 though. Good luck!

SO NERVOUS GUYS. I haven’t taken ANY computer classes, since they weren’t required for my graduation, and I was too busy taking required classes to think about things like AP Physics or computers! I have never programmed, I can only use MATLAB very barely! Oh god. It will kill me to wait. My only hook is that I do lots of extracurriculars - that aren’t math/science related. WOWWW

Oh yes! Teacher recs already taken care of and just have to do my last essay (#3 saved the hardest for last)

^:D I saved 3 for last too haha

Someone said before that CEE people don’t like when stuff is folded, does that apply to teacher recommendations too?

^ I don’t think so. They have to be sealed and put into an envelope, so I would think that a small, business-sized envelope would be fine. Official transcripts have to be folded at my school to fit into school stationary. I believe they mean your parts of the application

Hi! I was wondering if someone could please tell me if I am doing the transcript stuff correctly. I am including the unofficial transcripts (just typed out grades and scores and such), and my school has sent the official ones. Is this correct? Thank you so much!

Question(s)~! So the .pdf forms provided on the website always differ in content than the actual website. The website says to submit a copy of your essays and gives a link that doesn’t even lead to anywhere but then the next line says do not submit online?

And also, the website says send your official transcripts and scores with your application materials but the Part IV pdf says that the school should send them. Again, super confused…if anyone knows how to do this, please respond!

@cat12334: yep, that’s it

@shinexalive: it says don’t submit essays online, but as far as I know, there aren’t any places to turn in essays or the achievement list online, so dont worry about it
if you look on the part 4 pdf, it wants the applicant to turn in unofficial transcripts/scores and then have the school send an official transcript + scores

Does anyone know what to do about self-studied courses? I self-studied physics so it doesn’t show up on my transcript.

And are you guys just putting your letter of recommendations in with the rest of your application?

thanks @researchin!

@cheerioswithmilk I am putting teacher recs and the official transcript envelopes (all sealed) along with my application, yes.

I am thinking that if you can’t really list physics on your transcript, since they have no way of knowing what grade you could have gotten… BUT you should mention it in your essays! Especially essay 5!

After 15+ hours of work… my essays are done. Literally they are the full 3 pages, like if I put in one more word it would be over. I have the smallest margins possible that my printer will still print. YES DONE my eyes are killing me

By the way… WORDS OF WARNING: I was doing my online submission and accidentally clicked submit instead of save. I was done except that I was still a bit iffy about my exact research topics. I guess you could edit your online submission, but that might not look that good when they look at your application… BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU CLICK

Thanks @WeIsCool

Quick question guys: On the “unofficial” transcript, do you think I should put the classes I am taking next semester? Some of them are different. Also, my school didn’t put this past semester’s grades on my transcript yet because they are finalized around the end of January. I put them on my transcript anyways because all of my grades are finalized already.

@WeIsCool: i think you should include it if you marked on the application that you had taken the course. so for your unofficial transcript, did you just write in your fall semester courses? cuz my transcript doesn’t have my fall courses either

^yup. I listed the course and my grade. I just included a note that for my school, transcript grades aren’t finalized until the end of January, but that they are already finalized by the teachers. Haha hope the RSI people aren’t too picky

For my “postcard”, all I could find were these tourist postcards from San Francisco. Since I have only visited there once and didn’t think it was too professional, I decided to have a business envelope instead. All I put inside was a blank sheet of paper with my name on it and a few good luck notes to myself, tee hee. I then sealed it, addressed it, stamped it, and attached a post-it note saying that it was the verification of application receipt. LOL hope they don’t open it and see my good luck memos

thanks a lot LuoScioly

A little off the current topic… but historically, has GA been quite competitive (within the state)? Is GA often represented at RSI? Just for some peace of mind while I’m finishing my app…
