Rsi 2013

When do they start looking at our applications?

I really hope I get in
Only 1 attended last year in my state and I go to the top 5 school of my state :o

@numbersense I think right after the deadline, or even right before, they will begin going through and deciding our fate

I read somewhere that CEE meets in mid-February. They don’t begin immediately, if I remember correctly.

I emailed this to Maite:

"Hello,

I have already sent in my application for RSI, but I wasn’t able to include ‘official’ SAT scores from my counselor because according to her my school didn’t receive the December SAT scores yet. However, I did include an unofficial report by printing out a copy online. Is this okay, or should I have my counselor sign another printout and put it in a sealed envelope and send it again? Thanks a lot for your help.

-(My Name)"

She replied:

"Yes, that is fine.

Best,
Maite"

Does this mean I have to send it in, or what I already sent is okay? Thanks.

@kooshbag: I would go ahead and have your counselor sign/stamp the scores and send them in. There’s probably no need to overnight it though.

My son got his self-addressed post card back. Now we wait.

@kooshbag I have the same problem, so I just had my counselor put copies of my unofficial printouts in the sealed envelope. I also emailed Maite and she said “Yes, copies are fine. We can verify.”
I’m not entirely sure what that meant, but I think you’re fine :b

Just got my postcard back! Now, we wait.

Yeah I’m not gonna send anything extra, it’ll be a hassle for them to match it up anyways
Got my postcard yesterday too

Got my postcard, now I guess from now on we can just copy/paste previous-years RSI threads
bite nails until the packet arrives

I know this may sound ridiculous, but do you think making 2 typos in my essay is a big deal?

@jokolomo no use to stress over it now!

anyone know if not sending in AP scores is bad? i have some 5s and some 4s in math and science tests.

For #3, how much of your response was articulating why the field was interesting and how much was explaining why the specific questions interest you?

@jokolomo, they didn’t actually ask for AP scores at all, just for PSAT or SAT or ACT. I think you’re fine as long as you sent in one of the above.

@leatherlibrarian, I spent about one to two sentences on each. I had a pretty short essay 3

^I made essay 3 the second longest (after the programming essay, mainly because that essay truly articulated my interest). It think that will be the most heavily judged, perhaps to see if you are decently competent in your field or to see how much genuine passion you have. I wrote about 3/4 page for it.

My essay 3 was the longest, as I tried to convey my passion as best as possible. Is anyone here applying to MITES?

Also, about two and a half months until decisions, good luck!

same as mistery, my #3 was my longest response

What kind of stuff did you guys talk about when explaining why the fields interest you? I had to cut mine down a ton in order for everything to fit.

Also: if i use 11.5 font
how bad is that? Or a nonstandard font that is smaller than normal?
