Does anybody know why they extended the deadline? I see no legitimate reason, and quite frankly it annoys me a bit…

Well, there goes $20 overnight postage.

Hurricane Sandy??

Oh my god an extended deadline! Why cee??? I paid 20 dollars for overnight shipping and stayed up the night before polishing my work and frantically rushing everything! Why!

Almost flipped a table when I found out that the deadline was extended… Ah well. Goodbye, unnecessarily spent $37 postage.
At least I have time to send the release form that I forgot to include xD

@hoctopi are we allowed to send missed things in afterwards with a explanatory note?

@randomjason: (and LuoSciOly and anyone else who has advice) do you think its bad to format the list of accomplishments as a resume style thing, with accomplishments listed at the top, followed by research experience, activities, etc? my list of awards is only 10-ish items long.

also, I got a b in calculus bc in 10th grade after skipping ab. i did get a 5 on the ap test but got 4s on other tests. should i include a note explaining the b and how it was valuable anyways to me and i learned a lot as demonstrated by my score? (aside from the above weaknesses, the rest of my app is solid, with internships, perfect scores, stellar recs, etc)

i have 12 pt font times new roman with 1/2 inch margins… does that sound ok?

finally, do you think it’s bad to edit the online app like 5 times after submitting it? i just realized that it may not have been a great idea to do so… i know its a triviality but i’m paranoid.

Seriously?

I was JUST logging in to post that I wasn’t going to submit my application cause my teacher was being slow with her recommendation and I hadn’t received it yet. Yesterday when I looked in the mail and hadn’t gotten my transcript either I actually shed a few tears because I was so mad at the way my school worked…

Guess I get a second chance ^.^. Wow XD

Good for you, AmaranthineD, for getting a second chance. My son’s teacher recommendation letter was also delayed despite of 3-week advanced notice. We decided to mail his package without the recom. letter and mail the letter seperately. We found out about the due date extension after we paid for overnight charges!

@Urantiel: I think the format you describe sounds fine. I don’t think you should draw attention to poorer grades/scores with an unnecessary explanation. 12 point font is required; 0.5" margins seems a bit small, but I would think it’s fine. I have no idea about editing the online application.

anyone know if we can send in anything required later?

@quidditchcat It’s probably going to be a hassle for CEE to try to match up something like the Release Form to your application (I’m sure they have a way of organizing, by state or by alphabet so they can put the official transcripts easier). Either way it was probably best had you put all they required documents in the single envelope, but you are welcome to try. No one knows the CEE Method.

do you think a B in math will be extremely damaging to my app? my fields have nothing to do with math. i have had research internships, perfect standardized test scores, (im guessing) very good recs, and leadership. registered for university math in spring. is it pretty much guaranteed rejection? how much of a difference will it make?

^^depends on what math. If it was a difficult class I think it will not hurt you too much. But if it was just a normal math class, not an honors or advanced or accelerated class, then it might be bad. Your other stats look really good though so I wouldn’t worry too much

Got back from the post office! SO glad it’s done. XD

When should we get the results back? I think I saw earlier in this thread that it was the first week in March for past years, but on the CEE website it says the last week in March.

Oops – I just found a major mistake on my application. I thought I changed my research from biomedicine to biochemistry, but apparently the edit didn’t go through so on my application that RSI received, I wrote my essay about biochemistry but my interest says biomedicine. The online form is updated though, with the correct edit. RSI veterans, is this going to disqualify me?

Why was the deadline extended? Did not enough people apply?

Got my application receipt envelope back! Now for the wait… Good thing CEE didn’t open my envelope before they sent it back, I totally wrote a good luck note to myself AHAHA

^^^I am pretty sure it is because of PSAT results - they did not get back for some people until after break.

Anyone know how many applicants there are this year?
