Rsi 2013

Did you guys include a description of the award/activity in your list? Or did you just list everything, giving the names of accomplishments only?

For self-explanatory ones I didn’t say anything, but for awards that weren’t clear I did a dash and in italics a brief description

this is a stupid question but how did you guys format that? Was it like a table or just bulleted or separated into STEM-related and non-STEM
Thanks haha

@kooshbag: one big table.

Also, is it bad if I am only submitting my SAT? I have taken the PSAT, ACT, and one AP but none of the scores were outstanding. 214 on PSAT, 34 ACT, 4 on APUSH. Will not submitting them hurt me more than submitting mediocre scores?

@imsa2014-I’m doing the same thing, except just sending in the ACT. I dont think it makes much of a difference to be honest, the scores are just baselines. So I’d say to just send in what you think would represent you the best

Can the list of accomplishments be formatted as a resume-style thing, with research experience, awards, and activities in about 1.5 pages?

Because the RSI application makes my head hurt, I made my own checklist:

 1. online printed application
 2. essays
 3. 2 recommendations
 4. high school transcript/test scores/documents
 5. list of accomplishments
 6. part V signed form
 7. check
 8. postcard (opt)
 9. unofficial transcript/test scores

Am I missing anything? Thanks in advance :)

@ojeshsh, that’s all I did (: good luck.

jokolomo, my son’s list looks more like a list and less like a resume. His was 1.5 pages.
ojeshsh, your list looks good to me and does not hurt my head. :)

My son overnighted his RSI application. What a relieve! We now just have to anxiouly await for the decision.

My application just arrived – now it’s just a long wait.

They just extended the deadline to the 18th.

THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A CONSPIRACY GOING ON HERE. THIS IS DIRECT EVIDENCE. MIT IS TRYING TO GIVE AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE TO PEOPLE IN MASSACHUSETTS BECAUSE ONLY THEY HAVEN’T SENT IN THEIR APPS YET. THEY WANT TO MAKE MIT RESTRICTED TO MA ONLY. AFTER THEY DO THIS THEIR GONNA USE THEIR UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR WARHEADS AND DECLARE WAR ON THE REST OF THE WORLD. SOON WE WILL ALL BE PART OF THE MATRIX UNLESS WE PROTEST THIS NOW!

Ron Paul 2016

I deeply apologize for my last post. It is actually Hampton University and Eric Cantor is behind all of this. I’m sorry if I offended anyone.

So I just found out that both my biology teacher and my research mentor didnt follow the form RSI provided in the app for the letter of rec, and both opted to write seperate letters without filling out the bottom of the form asking for title, position, etc. I emailed CEE but haven’t heard back yet, does anyone know if I should send it in separately (I have already sent in my app) or if its fine? Thanks

Are you guys sure this deadline extension is real? I still see the January 11th deadline on other parts of the page…I’m about to rush to the post office which closes in 15 minutes to overnight my application, but i don’t know, I’m just being really paranoid :/

ā€œRSI 2013 Application deadline extended to Friday, January 18, 2013. All materials must be received at CEE by January 18, 2013.ā€

http://www.cee.org/apply-rsi

I wonder why they extended it? Anybody know? It’s not like they don’t have enough qualified applicants, and to do it two days before the deadline - it’s almost like a gift to procrastinators who have been too lazy to fill their apps in on time. No offense meant to anyone, but seriously. For those of us who sweated it out for weeks in advance… umm

Just overnighted it today. That was unnecessarily expensive postage… Gahhh and I could have looked over my essays again. Whatever what’s done is done

They did the same thing in 2011 if I recall correctly (the deadline was later in January that year too). It’s especially interesting because in 2012 the deadline was 1/6, and it wasn’t extended, meaning that this year applicants have more than an additional month to complete the application compared to last year (since the application was released several weeks earlier this year as well).

Anyone know a definite cause for the extension? I find it interesting.
