I can login, but it’s asking me to RSVP for one of two dates in october of this year…i guess they’re usc informational meetings for the class of '08, even though I applied for fall 07

When they (USC Admissions) are ready, and have the database properly updated with all valid candidates, and interview dates, then you will go through a website to view your selection as a scholarship candidate, and to select one of the appropriate dates for the Explore USC interview. However, I would encourage you to wait until you receive the letter in the mail.

Last year, there was some churn about people going to the website prior to when they were authorized to do so (via an official letter). People ended up calling the Admissions Office, and were complaining about not being able to logon, or not seeing the appropriate information (similar to the post from syphonyinblack above). The response from USC Admissions was: “what are you doing looking at a website that we have not officially directed you to?”. Before you make any calls to the Admissions Office, you might want to think about how you would answer that question.

I doubt that any scholarship candidates were turned away due to their complaining about the website. But a few people commented in threads last year about the Admissions Office being quite upset about people looking at unauthorized websites, trying to logon without official authorization to do so, and tying up Admissions personnel without legitimate reasons. It all started after people in CC saw the URL in a CC thread last year. I don’t work in the Admission Office, so I don’t have first hand information. I am just trying to summarize a problem situation that occurred last year.

The last thing that you would want to do is to jeopardize your chances at getting a scholarship by upsetting the Admissions office.

I think pretty much everyone can log in unless you type up your USC ID wrong :P.

USC holds lots of events prospectives can attend, not just Explore USC. So it’s not an indication of acceptence until you get Explore USC info up there.

is anyone having the problem that the ID and last name do not match up? also… my gateway account is from when USC sent me brochures soph/junior year… is that part of the reason why they might not match?

sorry to boost your bubbles, guys, but if an average Joe like me can log in then I’m pretty sure it doesn’t determined acceptance … I think everyone can log in… unless they are experiencing some rare technical difficulties…

what exactly happened last year? Kids who got in could tell by whether they can log in or not? Or was it just a computer glitch?

^ People could log in to the Explore USC site. Once people got their acceptance letters early, they checked the site to see which scholarship they were up for.

Friendly suggestion: stop trying to login to the website. It is not officially time yet. You will generate unecessary anxiety for yourself.

If you can not login, it does not mean that you have not been accepted or that you are not being considered for a scholarship.

If you can login, it does not mean that you have been accepted, or that you are being considered for a scholarship.

If you get frustrated, and end up calling the Admissions Office early (like some people did last year) you will very likely upset them (because you are trying to access an official website that you have not been given official approval to access).

Just pretend that you did not see this thread. Wait for your letter. Keep thinking positive thoughts. Sooner, or later, you will receive a letter. Hopefully, it will be the one that you have been waiting for.
