RU-tv Program

Hi! I was invited to the RU-tv program when I checked my mail. Here is the email that was sent to me.

" If any of the following words catch your eye, read on!

* Video Production

 • Television Network Programming
 • Graphics and Editing
 • Public Relations and Marketing
 • Engineering
 • Communications
 • Broadcasting
 • On-Air Talent

Residence Life and the RU-tv Network have created a living and learning opportunity for students interested in video or communications. Students participating in this exciting program will have access to all aspects of a professional television station during their first year at Rutgers. They will have the opportunity to work and learn in the field with RU-tv employees while living with students who share common interests. RU-tv is looking for enthusiastic students who are eager to actively participate in the program for the fall and spring semesters. All majors from all Rutgers-New Brunswick colleges are welcome.

This housing opportunity, located in Winkler Hall on Busch campus, directly across from the RU-tv network, features large suites previously not available to first-year students. Not your average dorm room, each suite has its own bathroom and living room and accommodates six people with two per bedroom. Carpeting, telephone, cable TV, and Internet access are all included.

Don’t miss out! Get involved and turn your interests into reality! Click on the link above for more information and an application. Due to the high demand for this program, we will begin filling spaces by May 7 and will no longer be accepting applications after May 13, so please submit your application as early as possible for consideration. "

Does anyone know about this program? How is the Winkler Hall btw? Do you HAVE to be active in the program to join? The only thing that I would be interested in is the Engineering or Television Network Programming. Is it worth it for me to go? Thank you!

Taken from the RU housing website about Winkler. That’s all I know about your situation.

I got the same email and was kinda interested because one of the things I’ve been dying to learn about is video production. I’ve always been into films and I guess the production styles and equipment are similar. I was also thinking of minoring in film studies as well so its something I’m considering. However it says its for continuing students but I’m going to be a freshman, am I still allowed to apply.

It’s actually for freshmen. Cause it says right here:
“This housing opportunity, located in Winkler Hall on Busch campus, directly across from the RU-tv network, features large suites previously not available to first-year students.”

It’s a great opportunity for you if you’re going into video/film, but the thing about this program is that you have to remain active in it. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to handle the workload in addition to this active program… so I’m most likely opting out from it.
