What exactly is it?

This is from the undergraduate admissions financial aid link:
Lewis Rudin City Scholars
Rudin Scholars are outstanding entering freshmen selected from public and parochial high schools in all five boroughs of New York City. In addition to their scholarship, the scholars participate in academic and cultural activities in New York City. The program is named in honor of the late real estate developer Lewis Rudin, former president of the Association for a Better New York and NYU alumnus and trustee.

Thank you CASmom. I saw that before, but am still confused by this. How many kids are selected, how much will I be awarded, what is so special about this scholorship, why was I selected, etc.

It’s my understanding that the scholarships range from $15,000 - $25,000, with the amount based at least in part on financial need. If you google “Lewis Rudin Scholarship” you will find several links that have info, including a Facebook page established by this years’ recipients.
