Rules for a "verbaled" athlete

Hello everyone - new here, so if this is the wrong place let me know.

I looked all over for an answer to the following question, but came up empty (but CollegeConfidential.com came up). I tried NCAA.org - and nothing.

Here’s the question: I am part of a website that “covers” a college team. We have a verbaled recruit lined up to do a live chat with fans. Is there any violation against that for the athlete? We don’t want to get him in any trouble.

Thanks for any help or pointing me in the right direction.

“fans”…must be a top football recruit. i wouldn’t do anything without my recruiting coaches permission.

You can either phone the NCAA or go to the school’s compliance office.

Every D-1 college/uni will have a compliance office within the athletic department, and that is the place you should start.

You can contact a recruit who has verballed. However, the coach can’t comment about the kid until he or she has signed the LOI…
