Rumor clarification?

A source at my CC told me that if we met the minimum qualifications for a non-selective pre- major at UC Davis, we’d be guaranteed in.

Eg: Pre-Managerial Econ
Minimum GPA: 2.8
Pre Reqs can be taken at CC or UCD.

Can someone clarify this? It seems too good to be true.

Sounds right, especially if it isn’t impacted.

A friend of mine got into UCI with a 2.7 GPA majoring in History. He was waitlisted at first but since there was room open they admitted him. He also got accepted to UC-Davis with a 2.7.

Wow. I didn’t know it worked like that! Interesting.

So looks like I’m in for pre-managerial econ lol. I have a 2.88 cumulative but it’ll most likely come up to a 3.0-3.2 by the end of fall.

P.S did he get accepted last year? Or before that?

bump let’s see if more people can add onto this.

He got accepted into this year for Fall 2012. He is going to UCI

Meeting minimum qualifications definitely does not guarantee you a spot, especially if the size of the applicant pool continues to grow as it has. All UC’s have a certain number of spots they expect to fill in every major each year. If a UC gets only a few applicants to a major and they need to fill the spots, yes meeting minimum requirements will get you in, BUT if they get more applicants than expected, you’ll be put in competition with the other applicants and just having the minimum won’t be enough.
