How do I find out if where I live is a “rural” community or not? A few scholarships are only offered to people who live in rural places. I asked my dad and he said that the post office considers my town a rural area, but he doesn’t remember where he got the information. I’ve always thought of where I live as a “suburb” because we’re about an hour’s drive from NYC, but there’s also a lot of farms and open space.

An hour’s a bit far to be a suburb I think. Suburb’s are generally <30 minutes in my opinion.

While I agree with CIA above, why don’t you just call the post office and/or the school and ask?
