Rushing as an RA

Hi everybody.

So, I’m currently a freshman enrolled at Cornell, and found out the other day that I have been chosen to be a Residential Advisor a few days ago, after being told that I was listed as an alternate.

This is great news, except for the fact that I have been convinced by a bunch of my friends who decided to rush and pledge this semester that it would be right for me, and now am looking forward in participating in next year’s process.

While I clearly plan on talking to my Administrative Officer about whether or not I will even be permitted to participate in rush next year, I was wondering if anybody knows someone who did go through rush as an RA, or even did it themselves and could fill me in on how it would work?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I don’t know anyone who went through rush as and RA but I know several RAs who are in the greek system (that rushed freshman year), so I don’t see why they wouldn’t let you. Particularly if you fall rushed, as winter rush takes up a lot of time which might conflict with your RA duties/it’d be kind of weird to rush with your residents. I’m also guessing from you’re name that you’re a girl, which means the pledging process isn’t intensive like for guys.
