Russell Sage and SUNY

I am a transfer student planning to apply for the fall after next (Fall 2014).

Additional Information[ul]

[li] I’m unsure about whether I should apply to Russell Sage because it’s a private school and our EFC is relatively low. Do they have a good financial aid program?
[/li]

[li] What can I do to improve my chances? Should I take the ACTs?
[/li]

[*] My high school was very small - our class size was around eighty or so students, and our selectivity is most likely at the lowest.[/ul]

You have a shot at all four but I believe college GPA will hold more weight than high school credentials since the college GPA is better than the high school one.

Alright, thank you!

I had the wrong Sage college… It’s supposed to be the Sage College of Albany, not Russell Sage.

Even so, you still have a chance for Sage College of Albany…

I agree with Catria. As a transfer student, much of the admissions decision will be based on your success at the college level. I’m an alumnus of Oneonta and I know of students who transferred in there with just over a 3.0 GPA (3.1-3.3) after two years of community college. Fall 2014 is still 3 semesters away though, but as long as you can keep you GPA up, you should be fine. Additionally, it can’t hurt to apply to Sage and see what they offer you for financial aid. Private institutions can be costly though (I’m attending Sage for my master’s now) and if there is one piece of advice I can offer any college student, it is be conscious of your finances and the amount of student loans you are taking out. Many students don’t realize the debt they get themselves into, until its too late. Anywho, best wishes for your application season and let me know if you have any more questions!
