hi, I’m a senior deciding between rutgers and stevens. I’ve heard that stevens has a good name for jobs in the area, and I also got in for the cybersecurity program (I ultimately want to pursue cybersecurity). however, both schools have their pros and cons…
rutgers pros: cheaper, honors college so the dorms are very nice, good social life, good school spirit, good program
rutgers cons: doesn’t have a cybersecurity major, may not be as good in the eyes of a job recruiter, might be harder to find internships/co-ops/job opportunities
stevens pros: cybersecurity major, very close to nyc, good internship/co-op program, good job placement & ROI
stevens cons: significantly less campus culture, social life, and school spirit, more expensive (though my parents are willing to pay & I got scholarships, so cost isn’t much of a factor), I’ve heard that the cybersecurity professors aren’t very good & care a lot more about their research than about the classes
any help would be appreciated…I’m leaning towards rutgers but my parents really want me to go to stevens, mostly for their job placement & cybersec program. idk if it’s better to box myself into cybersec or get a general CS degree. any help would be appreciated, thank you!
