Rutgers student commits suicide after roomate and friend tape and expose him

[2 charged with taping Rutgers student having sex - NYPOST.com](http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/charged_with_taping_rutgers_student_9G3XCTxdLoZ3VPJNyk8spO)

this makes me sick. why didn’t they just leave him alone? sounds like he was a talented kid.

This is just so sad.

^^ditto…and someone needs to do something about the GWB rails; this is the third jumper in the last week…

I just can’t even imagine what kind of evil person would do that to their roommate. I wish there was more that could be done to them; being charged with violation of privacy is just not enough of a punishment.

It depresses me that there are people like this in the world. I agree that the legal consequences seem inadequate. I can’t even imagine losing a child like this. Unbelievable that the evil-doers are only 18, and one of them is female.

just the way that the Phoebe Prince case in Ma is changing the rules, this one might as well…do not be surprised if more charges will be filed; this may qualify

[A Tragedy at Rutgers](<a href=“Rutgers Today | Rutgers University”>Rutgers Today | Rutgers University)

I am hoping that the campus administration will expel the two students if the allegations are proved to be true. To do anything else would mean Rutgers’ campaign/dialogue of civility among diverse cultures is just for show. This episode is tragic since two members of a minority groups are bullying a member of another minority (gay students).

The parents of these students should be ashamed of themselves for not training their children to be kind and thoughtful to others.

But I also think Rutgers needs to have a better way of matching roommates. This was a disaster waiting to happen if the two students had been randomly matched. Does anyone know how Rutgers matches roommates for first year students?

RIP, Tyler Clementi.

what a horrible thing to happen. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

Just heartbreaking.

I am livid with anger reading this! I can’t possibly post what I’m thinking, it is unprintable. Those students who did this deserve far worse punishment than they will get. The mildest thing I can say is: MAY THEY ROT IN HELL! And before they get there, may their lives be filled with misery.

Gays are the one last minority that people feel totally justified in discriminating against, attacking in every possible way, denying their rights–like the republicans who refuse to allow a vote on repealing don’t ask don’t tell…never mind, I am beyond furious, I have to stop now.

I am so very sorry. I’m taking a walk now…

What is wrong with us?

Why would anyone take pleasure in tormenting someone else?

I can’t even begin to imagine the pain that this young man’s folks are feeling.

I cried when I first read about it. RIP Tyler.

I hope the two students who did this to this young man feel totally eaten up with guilt! And well they should be!

Such a sweet-looking boy. I’m so sorry, and may he please rest in peace.

What an unspeakably cruel thing to do to someone.

Words fail me.
My condolences to this talented young man’s family, friends and community.

What happened to a moral compass? Basic human decency? The concept that actions have consequences? I’m shaken to the core on this one. This could happen to any of our children, gay or straight, when someone who has no sense of decency decides to play games with someone else’s privacy.

When I first found out about this via Yahoo news, I felt extremely disgusted that a person received that kind of treatment. How he was treated was so wrong in many ways. I hope anything along the lines of this never happens again. Some people show a lack of morals and respect.

When things like this happen, I don’t know whether to be upset at the individuals that did it, or upset that we live in a world where things like this happen.

I feel so sad- how helpless Tyler must have felt…it must have seemed like the end of the world. It’s a shame another life was lost to bullying. I hope the individuals responsible get the help they need, and realize that things you do in life effect others. One boy lost his life, and they will also have to face consequences.

My heart goes out to all the families involved. It’s not easy on both sides.

Heard this on Morning Joe, felt sick. Even if the boys go to prison, it doesn’t bring back this lovely young man.

^ one of the two guilty persons was a young woman.

This whole thing has made me sick to my stomach. How could any 18 year old human being do such a horrific thing? What went through their minds and how did they not realize that they would cause harm? I am heartbroken for this boys parents and I pray that they could get through this. I just could not imagine the pain.

The two kids need to be charged for manslaughter. They killed this young man.

Oh, they knew. That was the whole point.

On another thread, a poster stated he felt this was just a case of “good kids who made a bad decision.” Another stated that due to their age, they had a hard time conceding they were “bad” people.

I’ve known some kids were absolutely vicious from a very early age, with no apparent ability to feel empathy or pain when they hurt others. I do believe it’s possible to be a wretched human being at the age of 18. I think we’ve seen the evidence of that in this situation, or in any number of other situations where young people take absolute delight in victimizing or torturing other human beings.
