Rutgers University Early Action for Fall 2025

So just confirming with everyone, there’s no letter - just the decision status, right?

S25 admitted SAS for CS 11am EST. ACT 34, GPA weighted 4.9, in state.

My son’s portal is showing “under review” locked, does that mean it is not under review?

It’s under review, my daughter said that yesterday and she just got her decision today

Engineering decision also came out after an hour of SAS. D25 got in. Like others mentioned, waiting till mid March for honors college is painful :pensive:

Son got in CS - school of engineering. OOS

1550 SAT, 35 ACT, 9 Aps with all 5s till 11th grade
Strong art portfolio
98% GPA

When do we hear about honors and scholarship?

Did you apple Early Action or Regular Decision?

With 78000 applications it’s possible they haven’t gotten to it yet. I know U Texas delayed their EA decisions til 2/15 because they were backlogged.

You may want to check if all the necessary documents are in order.

EA - EA results were suppose to be out in Jan

March for honor college

Congratulations on your daughter’s acceptance to CS in SAS! My older son started with the intention of majoring in CS but is now in Economics at SAS. I am sharing our experience so you can make the right decision for your daughter. Any student in SAS can start the CS major. HOWEVER, one must complete 5 required CS & other STEM courses before one can declare the CS major. CS classes are often times very difficult to register as they are usually closed by the time Freshman/Sophomore are able to register (registration is by # of credits earned). Your student would then need to request a special permission number (SPN) without any guarantee that a spot or a new class will open up. Given the under-supply and over-demand, CS major classes are difficult to register and even more challenging to pass with a C or better in order to meet the pre-requisite grade requirement to take the next course in the series. My son struggled for 3 semesters and destroyed his GPA in his attempt to stay in CS. He finally changed his major to Economics and just made Dean’s List for the past 2 semesters. My takeaway from his experience is that we should have considered direct admit CS programs where course availability is guaranteed and the competition is not so impossible. Do check out the CS department webpages to fully understand the major requirements. Discuss this with your daughter so she can make the right decision concerning Rutgers. Since she is accepted to SAS, she can still choose another major as there is no major declaration until Junior year anyway. Good luck!

Just so you don’t think I am bitter about Rutgers, hubby and I are RU alums and my younger one just got into RBS (and seriously considering it). After the horror stories with CS, he was not taking a chance! Ha, ha!

Is anyone able to activate their NetId?

He applied early action, all documents were sent mid to late October.

Child got into School of Arts and Sciences

Had applied for CS … Can we assume it is for the same major… It doesn’t say anything on the portal.

OK great, it could be a portal glitch then, as they are uploading results. Hopefully you’ll see a decision soon.

FYI, that’s Computer ENGINEERING at SOE, not CS in SAS. Make sure you check out both department’s webpages so he gets the one he really wants. I just posted my son’s experience with CS in SAS. Check it out.
