I have a greencard and sat down to apply for Santa Monica College summer courses as an 18 year old homeschooled student. However, the online site asks for a social security number and permanent resident number. To my knowledge, The S.S. number should not be required when applying for community college courses. The online application will not proceed untill they are provided, and I’m trying to keep the info out of this. Anyone have experience with having to provide the number? Should I talk to the college admissions in person?

Wasn’t Santa Monica College the setting for the recent shooting?

If you have a green card, then you should have a social security number. Many colleges require a social security number so this is not abnormal. It is in your best interest to provide it.
