Sad day on E Street

[Danny, we’ll miss you](http://www.brucespringsteen.net/news/index.html)

Audio-
I was just reading about that in the paper. So sad. Melanoma is unkind. The paper said Danny did play in a few songs in a recent concert not too long ago. He will be missed.

As an aside, my h will be going to a private concert by Clapton in Orlando in early May as part of a conference he attends annually. He wanted me to fly down to join him, but I can’t pull it off, due to patient schedules. Wanna drive over and go as his spouse?

Last year that conference happened to be held here in our city. DH was on his way to the private concert, which happened to be John Mayer last year. DS called to tell us he had been in a pretty bad accident on the highway (not his fault and fortunately he was fine… the car wasn’t though…) I was a the dentist with a mouth full of equipment (I am sure you can identify…) so DH, who happened to be close to where DS was, had to miss the concert to go help DS. Ahhh the sacrifices we make…

Wow, thanks, tempting offer. I will be seeing Clapton from the tenth row in a public concert probably around that same time.

Bruce canceled the weekend’s shows, but I think Monday’s show is still on (I have tickets). I’m sure there won’t be a dry eye in the house.

^^^^ Yes, the paper says Monday’s concert is still on. If you change your mind about the May 7 (I think??) concert, lemme know!

Correction-- the Clapton concert in Orlando is Tue evening May 6.

S and a friend had tickets for tonight. I’m sure they will be very disappointed but understanding.

This was so sad to read. Looks like he managed to beat it for a few years. Referring back to the what concert would you like to see that you haven’t, I’m proud to say I’ve seen Bruce with the E Street band four times.

I think I am up to nine with E Street, two without. Will, really really miss Danny. What an amazing musician.

Last night’s show in Tampa was one for the ages. It started with a video montage of still photos of Danny’s life with “Blood Brothers” playing. The band then went into “Backstreets” as the spotlight shone on Danny’s empty organ. The intensity ratcheted up a few notches for “Radio Nowhere”, the next song and didn’t let up the entire night. Later on, Bruce introduced “Sandy” by turning to Roy on accordion and saying “You better get this right, somebody’s watching”. Bruce also dedicated the first song of the encore set to Danny. An emotional, exhilarating, almost three hour show, perhaps the best I’ve ever witnessed.

[Teardrops on the city](http://blogs.tampabay.com/popmusic/?origref=&alias=http://www.sptimes.com/blogs/popmusic/)

That sounds very powerful. Do Springsteen fans cry? If so, I’ll bet there wasnt a dry eye in the house.

The offer for Clapton still stands, audio- lemme know…

My first involvement with an on-line community was during the reunion tour with the E Street Band back in 2000. I made some friendships with a couple folks I still see when Bruce comes to Seattle, and I have more bootleg copies of shows than I will ever listen to. I remember Danny playing keyboards, stand-up bass and the accordion during that 2000 show, you don’t see that in too many rock concerts! Danny will be missed, Bruce is so much better (at least in my opinion) when he is with the E Street band.

My DW said I owed her big time after making her sit through a show on Bruce’s solo acoustic tour last year. I 'd say (and she would whole heartedly agree) that she was paid back last night! :D

H and I flew down to Ft. Lauderdale last week in large part to attend the Friday concert. We were attending with 6 of our Florida cousins! We were all very sad to hear the news.

audiophile – It sounds like Tampa was the Land of Hope and Dreams. It sounds like a great and meaningful show. I’ll bet that show gets widely bootlegged. I have not gotten any new shows in a long time, but I will look for that one.

jyn626: My DH is going / has gone to the same conferences. He had no idea who John Mayer was and almost blew it off last year. Eventually all of our kids will be off to college and I will be able to join him; he is clueless. I lugged a gazillion lps to college, he took a tiny radio.

LOL sewbusy!! Do you know where the conference will be held next year? Maybe I’ll meet you there!!!

Just found out my organization will be having Dylan at a private concert in June…Jakob Dylan. No disrespect for the Wallflowers, but I think I may need to change my profession and join Jym & Sewbusy’s husbands’ trade group. ;)

It’s already online. On the mp3 of Backstreets (the opening number), you can hear Bruce’s voice cracking with emotion.
