<p>what is the saddest, most heart-wrenching, and eye-watering thread on this forum involving students, parents, and the parents’ money?</p>
<p>Not necessarily the “parents won’t pay”, but the parents absolutely can’t pay threads do get to me. There was a recent poster whose parents are on the verge of bankruptcy but were concerned that they won’t be able to qualify for loans to help their child pay for school. It’s tough right now, alot of people are hurting and worried, but that has to be a very gut wrenching decision.</p>

it’s not saddest ever…but it sucks</p>
<p>My 15 year old sister tried to kill herself and had to be hospitalized for a week within a few months of my mom having to have a hysterectomy. We have insurance, however my parents are self employed and private insurance is very expensive so we didn’t have great insurance. None of my sister’s expenses were covered. My EFC is 25k, so the loans I qualify for are about enough to pay for my meal plan.</p>
<p>It will be private student loans for me!</p>
<p>I don’t feel too sorry for myself at this point, they were never planning on paying and I was cool with that. I just figured all the financial calamity would lower my EFC, my school did take it into consideration but only lowered my EFC by 2k and didn’t offer me any additional loan options to cover the 2k. I am very lucky I managed to avoid debt my first two years.</p>
